Just looked again, and Hypothesis 1 seems to be based on my Grandfather being born in 1877? Whereas he was born in 1860…

And so I’m unsure if I should discount this hypothesis?

Hypothesis 1
Subject is the child of Father of IH b1896 and grandchild of Unknown half-sib born circa 1877

SCORE = 1,582
About 2 times more likely than the next hypothesis.

The Common Room / Re: Advice needed on Cancelling Subs at FindmyPast.

I was under the (mistaken) impression that you had to have current Subs to view the 1921 Census, Sandie.

I was in such a rush to view my Grandfather's Entry, that I signed up at one minute to midnight, I think!

And needless to say, it didn't get me any further forward  :o

I'm just seeing if I can add new people, or whether I have to start a new Chart...

Since doing that one I've had a few new matches, but all are descended from the same Kean family.

I've gone through all of the children of Richard Kean and Frances Butler and can't find one who could be my Grandfather, born 1860.

Possibly my Grandfather was fathered by Richard Kean, born 1832, but outside of marriage? That might explain why he's a Wilson and not a Kean?

Hi Richard,
I don’t know if I can Post it here, as possibly too big?
I’ll try anyway.

Ok, i can't read the numbers, but if you look at the tree the higher number in the little green box the better the odds for that relationship.  Also if you switch to the new beta v2 you will get the wrod strongest above the best fit.
Next if you scroll down, to the ranking table, that will show you each possibility in turn, which you can look back to see on the diagram :-)

Richard

I’ll try Posting the Link, and see if that’s easier to read:

If I’m understanding it correctly, it’s Hypothesis 1 that is the most probable result?

Nice to have a few people listed where I actually recognise the names!

I’ve rechecked any possibility of cancelling, but no go.

I will definitely never take out yearly subs to FindMyPast ever again!

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Re: Leeds method - help
« on: Wednesday 11 May 22 22:32 BST (UK)  »
I’ve never been able to get anywhere with the Leeds method…

I have tried it, but it doesn’t seem to work for what I’m looking at.

I have a long-standing Brickwall with my paternal grandfather, who resists all efforts to be found 😵‍💫.

Essnell, - have you tried doing a WATO Chart? It stands for What Are The Odds, and is based on probabilities. I’ve been having a go and can post if it would be of any assistance.

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Re: Ancestry DNA matches

One of the sites - can't remember but it might be gedmatch - has a function called:

Are we related?

If you upload your dna to their site and then choose both yours and your wife's and run the tool it aims to tell you if you are related.

Pheno

It’s on Gedmatch. I tried it because I have some matches that seem to match on both sides. It would seem that it’s down to having Mormons on both sides!

Another thought…

Sometimes when people don’t respond to messages on My Heritage, I try looking them up on Facebook and messaging them on there. And it has worked! I’ve had replies from people on FB, who’ve said that they don’t look on My Heritage…
