Worcestershire Lookup Requests / Re: Born out of wedlock
« on: Monday 16 February 15 15:36 GMT (UK)  »
I have the newspaper article.
In the divorce proceedings,it was noted that George Miller had 2 children with Emma Allen on the dates mentioned.
I can only assume they parted and he went on to marry Emily ? In 1901,and they had a son named Edward.
You are correct when you say he was born in Cheriton.
He married my great grandmother Annie Georgina Taylor in Winchester 1880.
The divorce followed.
I would like to know if possible Emily's maiden name.
I suppose I could send off for marriage certificate to get more info.
Again many thanks for everybody's input.

Thanks everybody for input.
I think you have something cider drinker,as George Miller lived and worked in Colwall.
Does it give a surname for the children.

Hi,
Some help please.
My great grandfather George Miller 1855-1931 fathered 2 children in Malvern with a lady
by the name of Emma Allen. The dates given are 1st March 1896 and 25th August 1898.
He later married a woman whose first name was Emily who had a child named Edward b1903.
Any information would be helpful.
Many Thanks

I have only just joined Roots Chat ,so it's probably a bit late to reply to your request.
Jack Chalke from Couch Green was my Uncle.
If it's not too late,I would furnish more info if required.

Hello Cath,
That is amazing.how did you come up with that?
I've been searching all sort of records, but never gave a thought to change of name.
Do you think they changed name by deed poll or just made it up.(strange name to use )

Do any records exist that record a change of name or do you think they just made it up.
What paper reported the divorce.
It shows I have a lot to learn about genealogy.
Very many thanks again for your input.

Hello Pheno,
Thanks for your interest.
Annie was born in Owslebury in Hampshire.
No idea of children's names or sex.
This only came to light when from a transcript of divorce proceeding.
Another address was also given,
34,Cirencester Street,Harrow Roaf,Paddington.
But we are told children were born in Hanwell.

My great grandmother Annie Georgina Miller (nee taylor ) b1863 left her marital home in Winchester,Hants in 1886 and lived in London with a man named Alfred Turner, where she had four children between 1886 and 1899.
The address they lived at was 2,Baldwin Terrace, rosebank road,Hanwell,Middlesex.
I cannot find any trace of either party or the children.
Can anybody help please.
Many thanks
Dave
