Armed Forces / Frederick Slade - Stoker 2nd Class
« on: Sunday 26 April 15 10:16 BST (UK)  »
Hi all - another Princess Irene victim.  Looking for any Census which includes Frederick Slade.  I know he was 18 when he died on 27 May 1915, I have his Seamens' Service record.  I know he had only just joined up with the P.Irene.

His father also called Fred, and was living at 52 Faroe Road, W Kensington. But can't find either man on a census.  Fred junior was born in Willesden, London - all info gained so far from CWGC, Forces at War and Seamens' Service Record.

Any other info would be appreciated

« on: Tuesday 21 April 15 16:58 BST (UK)  »
Hi all
I am trying to find John Orchard, born about 1866 at Soulbury, Bucks.  I can't find 1891 or 1901 Census for this chap.  Also can't find any information abut the ships he sailed with or how long he signed on for.
He was a Stoker on board ship in 1911 Census and 'at home' with his wife on the night of the Census

Any help would be most apreciated

World War Two / Tugboat St Fagan - Crew List
« on: Tuesday 14 April 15 13:40 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone point me to where I can gain the Crew List for the St Fagan.  She was one of the rescue ships at Dunkirk and was blown up on the 1st December 1940.  I know that the Commander and Boatswain and 6 ratings were saved but I would appreciate any help finding the lost sailers
Many thanks

Hi All

I am researching the Upchurch Memorial for WW1 and trying to find the above chappie.  Robert appears on the Memorial and I have found a Robert Duppa Walter on the Swanscombe Memorial and need to know if they are the same person.  If they are - then I need to know why he appears on the Upchurch Mem as I can't find an address in Upchurch for him.  Any help would be most useful
TIA - Sue

Posted for a colleague

I've been reaching my Gt Gt Grandmother birth for 20 years and haven't
had any luck. I wonder if anyone has anymore ideas where I can look next. Her name is Louisa Mary Eloise Furness. Born c 1830 in Marylebone, London (Middlesex). I have her marriage in 1851 to Henry William Ball , then I can trace her onwards. I believe her parents are George Furness and Margaret Haslehurst.
