Hi Jacky, Good News!  My sister Stefka, has been in touch.  She has visited the graves in Heaton Cemetery.  They are in the Catholic Section amongst other Polish graves.  She has taken photographs and made a video of the surroundings.  Have you any suggestions on how she can upload this information to you?

Hi, If it is of any help to you.  I have been in touch with my sister who lives in Bolton.  She is on the committee of Halliwell History Society, which is a local history group in Bolton, and is willing to visit Heaton Cemetery to look for the graves.

Library and FHS Lookups / Re: Death Confirmation help pls Thomas Hesketh
« on: Thursday 03 August 23 09:28 BST (UK)  »
Hi Jayhen6, I was interested in reading your post on Thomas Hesketh.  I too researched this family particularly John Stones the second husband of Betty Hesketh.  There was quite an age gap, Betty was older by 20 years. I lived in Astley Bridge, Bolton as a child and Hesketh Mill dominated the landscape.  The family lived in Astley Bank and both John and Betty were buried in St Paul's Church Astley Bridge.  John was buried 23/02/1859 aged 55 and Betty 11/12/1858 aged 75.  If you look on the Bolton section of the Rootsweb site there are photographs of family members.

Westmorland / Re: Cookson Family of Applethwaite, Undermillbeck and Troutbeck

Hi, Thanks for the information.  I have just looked on the internet and found quite a lot about the company.  I did look further into John Borwick and found him mentioned on the website hawksheadbenefice.co.uk/inscriptions where there is a memorial plaque placed by 2 of his children Mary and Rebecca in 1844.

As for my own ancestors, George Cookson Senior was a widower when he married Jane Martin although I do not know who was his first wife.  He had 2 children from this marriage, both baptised at Troutbeck, Elizabeth  30/10/1744 and Ann 15/02/1747.

Looking at the Newspapers on the site Findmypast.  There are number of articles re: this case.  In The Sun (London) 11 May 1856 it mentions in the High Court of Chancery John Cast against Alicia Poyser and others on the real estate of Daniel Poyser late of Ponders-end.    The Solicitors requested that creditors and encumbrancers attend in person to the offices of the Vice Chancellor Sir John Stuart No. 12 Old Square Lincoln's Inn to prove their debts and encumbrances before 2/4/1856.  To be decided on 9/4/1856.

Hi, Perhaps Mychojs Iwaniw was in a similar situation to my father Iwan Iwanyk who was in his mid teens. He was from the  west of Ukraine in a small village which was under Poland. With the Russians coming, he and others from the village were taken to labour camps and worked for the Germans.  When liberated by the Americans he chose to settle in Great Britain and worked in forestry for a time in Scotland.  The workers lived in a camp.  He then moved to Bolton to work in the cotton mills.

I thought I recognised the name when I used to live in Bolton. Abram is a village in the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan, Greater Manchester (Lancashire).
