Dorset Lookup Requests / Baptism in Martin - Ann Waters 1813
« on: Wednesday 24 May 06 13:34 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I'm looking for a birth for an Ann Waters between 1813 and 1814 in the parish of Martin. Her father's name is William and mother is unknown. She may have a brother named Joseph who was a witness at her wedding but no other siblings are known.
Any help would be much appreciated. ;D

Thanks

Wiltshire Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Marriage in South Newton

Hello Nicky and Colin,
After the clues you have given me I went back and had another look on the IGI and found Eliza and John's marriage in Salisbury.  Her name is Biles and the son, Harry is actually called Henry Biles Davis, born 1838 in South Newton.  So that solves that mystery but not the answer I was hoping for. :'(

I thought I was on the right track when a Ann North turned up at their house on census night. Could still by my Ann but have noway of knowing.

Anyway, EIlzabeth Waters that was born in 1823 in Nuton is a good prospect.  Nicky, if you have the means to look at any of her sibblings, I'm also looking for a Joseph Waters that was the witness at Ann's wedding. Maybe a brother?

Thanks again both of you.

Hello Colin,

Thank you for your prompt reply. I didn't realize there were going to be so many possibilities! :-[

According to the 1841 census, she was born around 1816. She has a visitor recorded in the census named Ann North. If I have the right family, I'm hoping that this Eliza is Ann's sister which would make her maiden name 'Waters'.

Can you please look for an Eliza/Elizabeth WATERS born around 1816 given that the date might be out by 5 years? :D If it is her, then her father's name would be William, mother unknown. I have never been able to find where Ann was born (1813/14) or who her mother was so this would be a big break through if I can find her family in South Newton.  ;D

By the way, Ann's mother-in-law was also a Davis, Elisabeth from Durnford, born 1786. Do you have any folk in Durnford?

Thanks for any assistance you can give.

Hello List,

Looking for a marriage between a John Davis and an Eliza in South Newton around say 1835-1838.  According to the 1841 census their first child, Harry, was born in 1838 and their next one, Sarah, was born in 1840. I would to find out Eliza's maiden name, details of witnesses at the wedding and details of any other children. ::)

Thanks

Hello Dave,
Yes, it was you that found them for me before you went off on your holiday!

I'll have it try and find the other Samuel North and see who he married.  Maybe that will give me more clues.

Thanks

Hello Dave,
It wasn't a completed request so I'm glad you found me! Thank you for all that lovely information ;D

George North was a bit of a surprise and a worry.

My Samuel was born on 4 July 1813 in Britford to parents William and Jane North; William was a carpenter.

However there is another Samuel born in March of 1813 in Britford to another William and Jane North, this William was a wheelwright. This Samuel has a brother named George!

My Samuel has a brother named Seth and a child named Seth.  I just hope I'm still following the right family. ???

Oh woe is me! :(

Hello Nicky,
If your going, it would be wonderful if you could look up a few things for me.
According to the IGI the marriage between Samuel North & Zilpah Hayden happened on 18th Oct 1835 in Netherhampton.  If you could look it up for me and tell me if there were any witnesses and any recorded occupations and if they are of 'this' parish.  Also their children were Joseph born 1836, Seth born 1837, Zilpah born 1840, Jane born 1845 and Rose/Roseanna born 1850.

Census records these births in Netherhampton but the GRO free site says that 3 of the children were born in Wilton, so I'm not sure if you'll find them in Netherhampton.

Also looking for James NORTH born 1823 to 1826 (from 2 different census). His parentage is under question, his father should be John North and mother is either Mary Ann or Anne.

If you come across any other NORTH's in the time frame please let me know. :D

Any help you can give would be of great assistance.

Regards
Karenn :)
