Essex Lookup Requests / James WEBB born Essex 1785
« on: Sunday 07 June 15 09:06 BST (UK)  »
James WEBB had settled in Spitalfields by 1817, marrying Mary France in Christ Church. They lived in Brick Lane (1841 & 1851) with the census showing his birth place as Essex.

Thoughts on his birth place welcome.

One possibility is Woodham Walter son of James Webb & Hannah Calcraft

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Re: IRELAND family Lewisham 19th century

Thanks Rosie
I'd guess that is an error since Mary was baptised at Caterham in January 1809. John doesn't feature in the Caterham PRs

Could you give me the full marriage details please. I don't have access to Ancestry.

Buckinghamshire / GARRETT families Newport Pagnell area 18th century
« on: Tuesday 14 April 15 14:26 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to track down the origins of my 5 x GGF Isaac GARRETT born ca 1745 and suspect he came from the Newport Pagnell area before moving to Ridgmont by 1773.

His father's name may have been William. Any suggestions for locations in the area?

Elizabeth ROGERS married John LEWIS in Linslade in 1735. Any information on her family would be welcome. I believe the couple settled in Salford Beds until her death in 1762

Bedfordshire Lookup Requests / GOODMAN Aspley Guise and Husborne Crawley
« on: Friday 27 March 15 13:25 GMT (UK)  »
In trying to identify the origins of Henry GOODMAN, who married Susannah HOLMES at Walton in 1775 and then lived in Willen until their deaths in 1833 and 1783 respectively, I have discovered the marriage entry describes Henry as of Aspley Guise.

Although the NBI provides a number of burials there from 1750-1800 there appear to have been no GOODMAN christenings there between 1750 and 1773. In contrast there are multiple christenings at Husborne Crawley over the same period including one Henry in 1756.

Has anyone any knowledge of the GOODMAN families in these villages at that time?

Sorry it was 1692, I mistyped the date. A little early I feel.

Proving the connection is the bugbear. And how many people were in their 30s when they married back then?

Bedfordshire Lookup Requests / RANDALL- GRAY Cranfield

Thomas RANDALL married Mary GRAY in Holcot 26 Mar 1733 and they settled in Cranfield where both were buried.

Unfortunately neither were apparently born there. All suggestions for possible births welcome.
I've found two Thomas born 1697 Marston Moretaine and 1699 Southill

Thanks for that marriage record, for some reason it is not in the IGI transcript.

Mike
I've had little joy in finding info on the family except that James is later described as of independent means. His surviving son (by his second wife) was a baker in Husborne Crawley. I know there are others of the same surname in the Newport Pagnell area but have not managed to (yet) find any connection and Bucks archives lacks any relevant wills.
