My wife's GGM was born illegitimate. her mother's subsequent marriage produced 12 children including DNA matches for a half 1C2R at 112 cM and a half 2C1R at 98.5 cM

However, the descendants of one of my wife's GGGM's elder sisters come out as much higher matches
3C matches at 169, 157, 130 and 93.1 cM and 3C1R matches at 130, 128, 108 and 72.8 cM!

Does this point to GGM's unknown father actually being her uncle by marriage?  The unexpectedly high matches then also being half2Cs etc.

Buckinghamshire / Elizabeth KILBY Missenden ca 1700

My 5 x great GM Elizabeth Kilby married Robert MOORCRAFT by licence at Little Missenden in 1713 and they then settled in Warfield. However, I have been unable to identify any likely KILBY families for her origin.

Any suggestions welcome

I have a lot of 3c1R and 3c2R descended from one GGGF. My GGM being his youngest child.

the 3C1Rs range from 19 to 92 and 95 cM, while the only three 3Cs come in at 50, 58 and 90 cM!

My 74% English highlights Devon & Cornwall as one of two regions. All would have been from my mother's side her maternal GGM's family from Cornwall and her paternal GM's family from Devon

My wife and I are both of pure English Ancestry on paper

Currently I have 20,000 matches on Ancestry, 10,000 on MyHeritage and >3000 on GEDMatch
My wife has 12,800, 10,500 and >3000 respectively

I have no close matches on GEDMatch and my wife only has 1. It does pick up those matches who are on 23&Me and have uploaded their DNA

Living DNA shows me just 367 matches including a 3rd cousin and her son who aren't on other sites

Biggles the DNA is also on Ancestry, which has shown up two other high level matches from the same family which don;t match the paper trail. These two are both millennials so probably 2C/2C1R in some way I can't figure out.

Both these unexplained matches are closer than the only confirmed 2C who has their DNA on Ancestry!

The three DNA profiles have a 37.7cM triangulated segment in chromosome 6. Unfortunately there appear to be no other descendants from this family line on MyHeritage

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Rationalising a 239 cM match

On MyHeritage one of my wife's closest matches, at 239 cM, is a female born 1954. Her parents would appear to both have been born in 1910. However, the match is a shared match with a 3C1R from my wife's GGF, sharing about 60 cM with both my wife and the unexplained match.

On this line my wife's GF had 3 brothers, born 1907, 1917 and 1919 but none had sons born before 1950.
Since 239 cM is consistent with a 1C1R is the most probable explanation for the match that one of these 3 great uncles is the biological father? Or is GGF having fathered one of matches' parents also reasonably plausible?

Are the ages such that half 1st cousin is possible? I.e 1 shared grandparent. More plausible if they have an illegitimate parent.

I have one such at 392 cM
