Warwickshire / Re: R.A.F world war 1

thank you for the replies. I also wondered about R.A.F being in existence at that time. I just felt the Warwickshire Regiment must come into it as most of the other family members were in that regiment...... Apart from my great grandfather who was in the Duke of Cornwalls light infantry.... I think....which is a bit random seeing he lived in Birmingham too.
thank you for your help.

Warwickshire / R.A.F world war 1

Some years ago my mom told me that grandad had been in the R.A.F   during w.w.1. Recently my sister was looking for family service numbers and came across one for Benjamin Charles Ainsworth. Army no.11314 arma sch R.A.F and home address fawdry Street Birmingham. I'm interested to know if this is associated with the Warwickshire regiment..I've been told grandad was at the Somme,  he was injured and on crutches when he married nan early
1917. I've also heard he may have been at Passchendael.

Joseph Wild is something of a mystery in the family. Rumour had it about a name change somewhere along the line, and it happens to be with Joseph Wild, While or White. Prior to marrying Julia he appears to be married under the name of White to Elizabeth with baby William B. Julia Barker had a son John before marrying Joseph. We know about the generations afterwards. Probably going to remain a mystery I guess. Just seen the post about nimrod in 1815. That's great thanks.

Thanks for your post, my sister had a look last night at john Phillips the cheymist (chemist) and agree he's not 'ours', I'd done my best to ignore his job. I hope John from Coleshill is correct, totally unexpected though.
Thank you for your help....

Many thanks for your replies. Yes your last post is for the john Phillips I believe may be correct,  John is down as a cheymist whatever that is. Samuel brass founder. Maybe my best guess.  Samuel and Emily married St Martins 9 August 1847.  Father John labourer. witness Hannah Colebourne. the other looks like Samuel Bismark but writing not too good!    Thanks again.....

We've been trying to find the parents of our 3x great grandfather Samuel Phillips. 1828 who married Emily Ness ( down as Nest)  9 August 1847.  Samuels dad is down as John Phillips a labourer. They all lived in the Deritend  area of Birmingham.  The problem we have is there were so many John Phillips!   On  the 1841 I found  a John Phillips  age 50 wife Caroline 50 various children including Samuel age 15. Could this be the one.?   hope you can help....Mo
