Down / Marriage of Hugh Fegan and Mary Morgan, ca. 1809? Southtown
« on: Thursday 09 December 21 13:59 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find the marriage of Hugh Fegan and Mary Morgan. This couple has the following children, all baptized RC in parish Kilbroney, Co. Down:
Peter bp. 11-12-1808
John bp. 02-06-1811
Eleanor bp. 07-06-1813
Arthur bp. 28-09-1815
Patrick bp. 18-02-1821
Catherine bp. 10-08-1823.
At the first baptism, the mother is Mary Morgan. In later baptism, she is given as Mary Fegan. Does this mean that the couple was not yet married when Peter was born?
Other information about the parents is also welcome.

Wexford / Marriage sought of Frank Duffin and Anne Spellers, Wexford? around 1855?
« on: Wednesday 01 December 21 14:54 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find the marriage of the parents of William Duffin, RC baptized 27 May 1861, Parish St James and Hook, Wexford. His parents are given as Frank Duffin and Ann Spellers. (Family lore has it that that should be Ann Spillane.) The parents died 29 Sept 1878, and 22 Jan 1883, both in New Ross, Co. Wexford.

I am unable to find the marriage (and birth/baptism) of these parents. Any help will be appreciated.

I am looking for the birth of Ellen Winifred Mary JONES, who according to her death certificate was born on 18 Aug 1935 in Rudry South Wales. (She died 2 July 2009 in Penarth, Wales.)
I seem to be unable to locate her birth in the Freebmd files.
Also, I would be glad to find her marriage to Dennis Arlwyn JONES; date unknown.

Any help is appreciated.

I am trying to find the birth data of Ellen MULFORD.
I find her in the 1861 census, with parents Henry and Catherine, as born in 1852, with two brothers.
In the 1871 census, same birth year, two brothers and one sister.
I tried in vain to find Ellen in the GRO birth database. I did find her brothers and sister from 1871, which gave me the MMN of Nobes.

Ellen marries in 1871 George Ellis. I find her (as Ellen Ellis) in the 1939 "census" with DOB given as 12 Aug 1854.

Even with that additional information, I seem to be unable to find her birth in the GRO index. Any help is highly appreciated.

Kerry / Looking for Mary Ann Horigan, b. ca. 1842 Kerry
« on: Wednesday 03 November 21 12:23 GMT (UK)  »
Mary Ann Horrigan marries 25-12-1862 in London with William Bowman. According to census records, Mary Ann was born around 1842 in Kerry, Ireland. I am totaly unfamiliar with Irish genealogy and would be grateful if one of you could tell me when and where Mary Ann was born and who her parents were. Thank you.

I am trying in vain to find the death record of Beatrice Lilian Rutledge, born 17-11-1881 Hackney, who married 1898 in Hackney William Thomas WILKS. This husband died already in 1901. I have a handwritten note from unknown origin that claims that Beatrice Lilian died 1909 in Hackney, but I seem to be unable to find her. Can any of you?

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Couple not found in 1939 census
« on: Monday 11 October 21 19:30 BST (UK)  »
I am trying in vain to find a couple in the 1939 census. I am assuming that all persons alive in 1939 and now over 100 years of age should be found there. The couple I am searching is:
William Thomas Moule, born 02-11-1879 Lambeth, and
Georgina Moule, née Harvey, born 31-12-1883 Camberwell.
They married 1903 in Southwark.

Am I wrong in expecting that they should be in the 1939 census?

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Unable to find William T. Wilks in 1891 census
« on: Monday 11 October 21 11:55 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to trace a family through the census-years.
I find in 1881 in Shoreditch:
William T. Wilks age 29 years
Sarah Wilks 31
Ada F. Wilks 5
Clara L. Wilks 2
William T. Wilks 4 months

In 1901 Islington I find:
William T. Wilks age 49
Sarah Wilks 51
Ada F. Wilks 25
Clara L. Wilks 22
Maud M. Wilks 16
Arthur C. Wilks 12
I have confidence that this is the same family; the son William T in the 1881 census married in 1898 (and I find him with his own entry in 1901).
The parents and three daughters are also present in the 1911 census.

I am unable to find the family in 1891. Help will be appreciated.

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Marriage of parents and baptism of son on one day?
« on: Wednesday 06 October 21 15:30 BST (UK)  »
I find the baptism of Frederick Wright Harvey, on 12 March 1832, in St. Martin-in-the-Fields. Middlesex. Parents are John and Amelia Harvey.

I find the marriage of what I believe to be these parents on 12 March 1832: John Harvey and Amelia Wright Maddison, married by banns in the Parish of St. Mary's Lambeth in Surrey.

I could (barely) imagine that a couple that got a child out of wedlock would marry on the same day as the baptism of their newborn, but why in two different churches? Or am I completely on the wrong track here?
