Technical Help / Re: Reducing file size on jpg

Here are two pages from the manual for your device.  I suspect that under the "more options" you may be able to change the properties which might include the size of the picture.  You have to do the "tap the screen" part first. It really doesn't give a lot of info, does it?  Hope this helps.

"I'm trying this but not finding my way, what are the "controls' . I only have options to crop, add text, adjust colour etc.
Can't see the pencil symbol either"

On my Samsung they don't appear until I touch the screenshot with my finger while viewing it.  Then they appear as Roobarb shows. Marion

On my Samsung tablet this option is there:  Go to Gallery and open the screenshot. Touch the screenshot so that the controls appear at the bottom.  Touch the pencil symbol. When the picture changes appearance, touch the three dots in the upper right corner and choose Resize.  I've found that 20% is too much if I want to be able to expand it on a computer, for instance, and read the text in the image. Often 40% is OK but it might depend on if you want to insert it into something in the future.

Hope this helps.  Marion

Technical Help / Re: Firefox doesn't display favourites

Roobarb,

Perhaps this is what you'd like:

On the menu bar click on Tools. Go down the menu that opens and left click on Settings. A page opens that will show, on the left side, General, Home, Search etc.  Click on Home.  To the right of these options, there should be one called Firefox Home Content. If there is not a check mark beside Shortcuts, click in the empty box so that one appears.  Close Firefox and then re-open it. Hopefully this is it.

Hi Roobarb,

If you click on the three lines at the top right of the Firefox page, scroll down the options that appear and select More Tools. From there select Customize Toolbar.

At the bottom left there are four options. Clicking on the word Toolbar, you have the option to select Menu Bar. Click on that.  From there you can choose how you want your Favourites displayed - in the library symbol or on the address bar with the bookmark symbol. Just left click on the choice you want and drag it up to the right side of the address bar. If you decide you don't want it there and prefer to find your sites by looking in Bookmarks on the menu bar, just right click on the symbol you added to the right of the address bar, and select delete.

Hope this helps. Marion

The Common Room / Re: Youtube for Family History
« on: Wednesday 23 October 19 19:56 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

YouTube can be a great resource for family history research. I've read of people finding old videos of ancestors performing activities such as tight rope walking.  For myself, I found a video of a cousin's wedding. The cousin lives in another country and I wouldn't have known about the marriage let alone been able to "attend" the ceremony without YouTube.   Marion

Hi,

One place to look is the Royal BC Museum.  http://search-collections.royalbcmuseum.bc.ca/Genealogy

To find your fellow, I had to search with just a last name, male, and just put in the year.

Frequently you can see the actual death registration but sometimes not, and sadly, this is one that is without the image.  However, it does give the registration number etc. and an email address. Maybe you could email them about getting a copy.

Hi Kim,

The cause of death codes were revised over the years.  This site has a lot of information that will hopefully help you:
