Sorry forgot to tell you that Mary was the daughter of William's first wife Frances Snell.  Not Thomasine's daughter.

Take care
Judith

Hi Jennifer,
Amy Louisa Barratt was indeed the daughter of Elizabeth. I purchased the birth certificate.  This had Elizabeth as the mother but no mention of the father.  As to the connection to John Richards I am not sure.  Mary Richards nee Barratt would have been Amy's Aunt.  My father remembers visiting Amy as a youngster and was flabbergasted to learn that Amy was illigitimate. (My father was under the impression that Amy was one of his mother's sisters.  When I told him who she actually was he could not believe it) The family he remembered as being very religous and of a lovely nature.  As for the connection to John I really don't know.  I would be fascinated to find out any more information.

Hi Pam,

On the 1861 Census Charles is still living with William and Mary but not with George and William Hopley.

Take care

Hi Pam,

Just thought I would check on some information before I got back to you.

We have been in touch before and are connected as my Grt Grt Grandfather was Joseph Ankers William's and Mary's son.

Not sure whether this will complicate matters or not.  On the 1901 Census Joseph is living with Keziah Perry his daughter.  Keziah is widowed, she has a John Hopley down as a servant living with her, she eventually marries John.  I have just checked the 1891 Census to see where John is living and it looks like he is living with his parents, William and Grace Hopley, there is also a Charles aged 5 his brother.  Not sure if these Hopleys are connected with William Ankers and Mary Hopley but it gives us food for thought don't you think?

Hi,

I wonder if someone would be kind enough to look for a marriage between a John Quin/Quinn and a Ann Scanlan/Scanlon.  Possibly the marriage took place in Stockport and I would think between the years of 1830 to 1836.

Warmest Regards
Judith

Hi Celia

Your right Celia, I think it is because I am so desperate to get find Catherine before she was married I can have tunnel vision sometimes.

By the way Celia, when you mention directories, what are they and where are they?

Thanks again Celia

Hi Celia

It looks as though its back to square one.

I was wondering if the names of Catherine's and Joseph's grandchildren might give a link, for example one of David Ankers children was called Burton Ankers and I am not sure where that name comes from as his wife's maiden name is Williams, a long shot I know but who knows.
