Family History Beginners Board / Re: Birth - Rosina Craknell Foggin - abt 1911

Hi Hayley

Welcome to rootschat. There are lots of helpful people online here to help you if your researching your family.

You'll need to respond twice more to receive pm (personal messages) I can't put my email address on this page as it's not wise to do this. Do you have a few details about Rosina you are happy to give on a public forum? Maybe where and when she was born or who her parents or husband were.

Looking forward to hearing from you

Laurina

Thanks for your comments. As they are a couple I might hedge my bets and send for the earlier one in the hope that her husband registered her death.

Pity certificates are so expensive.

Family History Beginners Board / Information on death certificate
« on: Monday 02 April 12 15:19 BST (UK)  »
I'm looking for a death certificate and believe I might have found one in 1967 - what info would be on it to help me confirm this is my relative? Would it record place and date of birth for example?

Similarly another in 1957 - both died in areas I would not have expected to find them.

Thanks for any advice.

I noticed Gladys isn't with the family in the 1911 census - she's in another household but you need to pay to view who is with her.

I've been unable to find a marriage for William Moore and Mary Davison/Davidson - Mary has a son Joseph Davison born about 1861 and he is named as William's step son in the census. Mary is with her mother Jane in the 1861 Census

More likely to view these at local record offices. Telephone directories are on line - if you know more up to date names.

Once the death certificate arrives you should have the name and address of the informant. If your lucky and it's a relative that will give you a starting point for searching electoral rolls and telephone directories to move you on further. I've been lucky and traced family on two occasions this way. I've always written to them first and been fortunate that they've responded. Good luck

Hi Craghead,

If you click on McTalbert in the above message a new window will open. At the bottom of that page it says 'send this rootschatter a personal message' this is secure so your email address will only go to McTalbert
