Durham Lookup Requests / Wrathmall
« on: Saturday 01 April 06 10:20 BST (UK)  »
I wonder if any one could check the 1841 census & 1851 census for Charles Wrathmall born approx 1837 in Stockton.
I have found him on every census from 1861 when he married, a Dorothy Dowell, but I can't trace him before that.

Hi Andrea,
I have found some more information that maybe useful.  Margaret had been married before, she married a James Chapelhorn (another spelling of Chapelhow and Chapplow!) in Bampton on 11th July 1835, her maiden WAS Brown and her parents were Joseph and Ann.  She had a brother, also Joseph, born in 1817 in Shap.
Hope this may help you trace them in 1841,
Many thanks

Hi Andrea,
Thanks for looking for me.  Unfortunately, I don't have the marriage certificate, just the details from the Parish Church Records.
It may be possible that Margaret had been previously married, she had a daughter, also Margaret, in 1841 in Bampton near Shap, four years before her marriage to Charles.
On the 1851 census they have moved to Dawden, Co Durham and are using the surname, Aslett as opposed to Asclette, and Charles states that he was born in Stockbridge, Kent!
He was working as an excavater (possibly in quarry workings near Rosgill, Shap at the time of his marriage and Margaret in Swindale.
Charles dies between 1861 & 1871, he is recorded as deceased on his daughter, Elizabeth's (my great, great grandmother), wedding certificate in 1869 and Margaret's eldest daughter (Margaret) then starts using her mother's previous surname of Chapelhow although she spells it Chapplow.  Very confusing, but may prove that Margaret Snr had been married previous to her marriage to Charles.
Is this any help?

I was wondering whether anyone could trace either of these two families in 1841 in Shap or the surrounding area of Rosgill or Swindale both in the Parish of Shap.
I was in particular looking for Charles Asclette DOB 1811/12 and Margaret Chapelhow DOB 1815. They married in 1845 but may of been living with their families in 1841.  Margaret's father was Joseph Brown and Charles's father was Thomas Asclette.

Yorkshire (North Riding) Lookup Requests / Re: Raine's in Yorkshire

Cheers Oly,
Already knew that William was living with his ma-in-law in 1841, but Joseph Raine from Bridlington sound like a lead I may follow up.  William states on every census that he was born in Gargrave but no trace of any Raine's there so they may of migrated across to the coast.
Thanks again, I'll check it out!

Durham Lookup Requests / Robson Family
« on: Wednesday 08 March 06 13:35 GMT (UK)  »
I posted yesterday regarding the Wallace family and was given some information, I wonder if I could request another look-up?
This time it's for William Robson.  He was born in Sunderland in abt 1822.  By 1851 he'd married Elizabeth born abt 1813 (approx) in Wallsend, and had John Robson(my great, great grandfather) then.  There was also two ther children living with them in 1851, James and Joseph born in 1837 and 1839 but they may of been adopted by William, unless he had them at a very young age!
Could anybody trace them in 1841?  Were they married in 1841? Where were James and Joseph?
I'm sorry but I don't know Elizabeth's maiden name.
Any help much appreciated!

I was wondering if anyone would be able to check their 1841 census for Durham and see if they could find any reference to William Wallace born in Sunderland in 1825.
He married Ann between 1841 and 1851 and would love to confirm their whereabouts during that period.  I can't find them on the 1851 census through
