Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Alse's date of birth in October 1601
« on: Sunday 20 October 24 08:20 BST (UK)  »
Could I have some help please with one word—the day of the month—in this baptism record. Apparently Alse was a common enough girls’ name those days. I think it says:
Alse the daughter of Roger Wilmott baptized the e[l]ev[enth]? of October

I'm not an expert so won't hazard a guess at actual dates but I think these photos could be of people a generation or more earlier than you've suggested. Could your wife's grandmother have had any other ancestors living in the area in the middle to late 19th century?
I hope moving it up the board will get one of the experts to enlighten us.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Re: Enlargement of map
« on: Monday 07 October 24 00:08 BST (UK)  »
Unfortunately, enlarging your image only pixelates it without improving any detail.

If you know the full details of the block given in your ancestor's land grant, you should be able to find it in this series of maps:
https://www.nswlrs.com.au/Parish-and-Historical-Maps

It is a bit of a minefield so be sure to thoroughly read the instructions first.

Scanning them at a high resolution should give you good results for most. Any you're not happy with, post them on here for further advice or perhaps digital restoring/cleaning/improvement if that's appropriate.
