Warwickshire Lookup Requests / Re: John WINDRIDGE - Mancetter 1774
« on: Thursday 21 November 19 20:07 GMT (UK)  »
Thank you for your help.

To be frank, I have precious little to show that John may have been the son of John and Fanny other than that several trees on Ancestry show John to be their son.  These trees also show the other siblings that have been mentioned (Elizabeth, Mary etc), the difference being that baptism records exist for the later siblings but not for John who in that case may or may not have been John and Fanny’s eldest child.

Perhaps I’ll ask the question of the people on Ancestry showing John in their tree how they came to believe him to be John and Fanny’s son – although to be honest, past experience has shown that some people can take offence at this type of question – I’ll try to be at my most tactful!

Once again, thank you for your assistance.

Simon

Warwickshire Lookup Requests / John WINDRIDGE - Mancetter 1774
« on: Wednesday 20 November 19 20:14 GMT (UK)  »
I’m trying to research John WINDRIDGE who I believe to be the eldest child of John & Fanny WINDRIDGE born around 1774 shortly after John and Fanny’s marriage in 1773.

Whilst John and Fanny married in Tamworth they subsequently moved to Mancetter which is where I believe John was born.

I understand that there is a set of baptism records relating to Mancetter covering the period 1726 – 1776, which I am not able to access online and which may contain the record of John’s baptism which I am trying to find.

Is anyone able to help.

Kind regards - Simon

Lancashire / Request for Photos of Headstone - St Mary the Virgin, Knowsley
« on: Tuesday 19 December 17 16:41 GMT (UK)  »
Hello

I have a very poor quality photo (attached) of a family headstone in the churchyard of St Mary the Virgin, Knowsley.  I can make out some of the names and guess at some of the text, but I would very much like a better quality photo of the headstone overall - and two or three 'close up' photos of the various inscriptions.

I've been tempted to drive up and have a look for myself but its a 200 mile round trip. Would anyone be kind enough to take a few photos for me?

Thanks - Simon

Thank you again - for the further translation and explanation - it all makes sense now.

Thank you - for the welcome, the translation & the advice re copyright!

But the translation raises a further query - what connection (if any) did Joseph Painter and Richard Mousley have?  I know that Richard Mousley went on to marry Jane Towe (as is perhaps made clearer by the writing on the rear of the allegation), but what role would Joseph Painter have played in events?

Hello

Could anyone please help with a translation of the Latin section of the attached marriage allegation which I understand relates to Richard Mousley of Atherstone, Warwickshire and Jane Towe of Chilvers Coton, Warwickshire.

Thank you - Simon
