Carlow / Re: Haughton

I don't know, possibly there is a connection. I have a photo of a Janey Haughton, who I believe was my father's aunt, though I can't find her on the family tree my brother has done. When was Mary Jane born?, and her father Charles?

I am pretty sure they are his parents, as my brother has also done some research, and has started constructing a family tree. Advice from Ancestry is not to necessarily trust the research of others hence my current research here, rather than relying completely on what my brother has done. I really appreciate your help and will try and access the info you have provided. My Dad was definitely baptised at Cobh so it makes sense his birth cert was there also. I'm actually also interested in looking back further as my brother has done a certain amount of the work. In our family I think there were quite a few Samuel's, Patricks, Williams etc, so likely to be confusing!!

Carlow / Haughton

I'm trying to find any information on the Haughton family. My father Thomas Haughton was born in Middleton near Cork in 1904, but some of his ancestors were born in Carlow. Some of his ancestors were Thomas and James, and there was a Samuel and Samuel Gilmore Haughton. I would be interested to know if anyone else has a link to this family or is researching the family tree. I believe the family may have originated in England, and were Quakers.

Is it possible to enhance this photo, taken circa 1896? This is my grandfather and is the only photo known to exist.

Hi, his parents were David and Emma Carey, his older brother Henry Sidney Carey was my grandfather who died @ Ypres in 1917. Another "rootschatter" has done some research on David and Emma. I believe Albert survived the war.

Hi again Buzz, this is so exciting. I really want to find out what happened to the other children of David & Emma, my grandma told people that none of the boys came back from the war, but the general feeling was this was part of a plan to cut off from the Carey family due to pressure from my step-grandad William Rice. If you have any information on Elizabeth & Henry's siblings I would love to know. I believe there were 9 children in all. How amazing that Elizabeth lived to 97, the same age that my Mum Connie(her niece) died.Mum died in 2011, what a shame she never got to meet her Aunt Elizabeth. The family tree on Ancestry is in the name of Patrick Haughton (the Haughton family tree). I'm named as a contributor but never have as I'm not great at this techno stuff!! Paddy says he has let it slip of late, but with your info there is more to add, so thanks. I don't know if you need his permission to look, but let me know if you do. Mary
