Yorkshire (North Riding) / Pat Grainger. Diary of a Cleveland Miner
« on: Monday 05 August 19 12:52 BST (UK)  »
Hi

For some years I have been researching the "Diary of a Cleveland Miner" kept by William Rowbottom an Ironstone Miner and resident of Margrove Park & Charltons Terrace and Boosebeck from 1873 to 1927.

The source is a transcription of the diary's entries published in the Cleveland Standard of Jan 28th 1939. There are over 230 different surnames involved.

A final few entries still remain stubbornly unsolved. As a final attempt to try and solve them I have turned to the good folk of RootsChat who may cast a new set of eyes over them and help me complete my research. I have tried all the usual available resources that I have access to currently.

26th October 1923  Pat Grainger was buried

Many Thanks

John

Many thanks that explains this entry.

John Andrew Thompson was Stationmaster at Boosebeck from its opening in 1878 until his retirement.

The source is a transcription of the diary's entries published in the Cleveland Standard of Jan 28th 1939. The following entry as two possibilities.

3rd April1922   Mrs Thompson of Saltburn died.

THOMPSON, Mary J d age 64 or Annie d age 51 both June Q 1922 Guisborough Dist ?

As anyone access to online newspapers so I can possibly determine the correct one. Our local ref does not hold this year or it is missing.

Thanks

John

Many Thanks for your help

I am researching the history of the house I was brought up in and people who occupied it over time.

I don't have the 1891/1901 address for the Ezards.

The 1939 address should read  DIXON St Lingdale, this is the house my parents bought about a decade later.

Regards

John
