Somerset / Re: surname Larkkon/larkkom/larkon/Larkham ?
« on: Thursday 13 April 17 12:04 BST (UK)  »

I do have access to Ancestry and haven't  looked into the gaol house thom. yet.
Only  problem I have with Elias is that I see nothing that indicates that he is the father of a boy that fits the bill.
 Thomas Larkham
BIRTH 1804 Somerset, England
DEATH 1854 Somerset, Gloucestershire, England and whom I am sure is my 3rd great-grandfather.
Regarding the LDS document would it likely show witnesses ?
I shall as you suggest contact Bristol Record Office direct and see if they can send an electronic image.
Your input greatly appreciated, Ive chased this bloke through all manner of search options and he has me bushed. The list of surname variants is growing daily!.

I do have this reference but have no idea how to access it,
Name: Eleanor Thomas Gender: Female Marriage Date: 11 Jun 1835 Marriage Place: Bristol, Gloucester, England Spouse: Thomas Larkham FHL Film Number: 1595983 Reference ID: p 58 n 172 .

In regard of shifting the search to parish records outside of city proper,
Im at a loss to know where to begin. How would I set parameters for a search of Parishes.
little in my discoveries so far that makes mention of possibles. I have his son marrying at Edgebaston, Thomas registered death at Bristol, and several others resident in Walsall.

How Wrong could I be, no closer to finding them at all, Ive failed to find Marriage registration
for Thomas La**** and Ellen Thomas,at Bristol in 1835: which I hoped would yield at least one name for his parents, or witnesses.
'Capetown' found me a Lar**** family which looked a good match age and location wise(On Ancestry and looking for marriages in St Augustine the Less
Elizabeth LARCOMBE (father Elias) married John PETERS: 18 August 1838
marriages in St Augustine the Less, and the family are on the 1841 at Bitton.Elias LARKAM - 80 )
but I cant make him match with Thomas born (in 1804) and marriage with Ellen in 1838.
 So still looking!
Please disregard my original postings for help with this name, I think Ive found them.
My thanks for all those who read and responded.

Somerset / Thomas and Ellen Larkken ( and innumerable variations of same)

First I must say I've also posted seeking this pair on Gloucestershire Board and apologise for any confusion arising from dual posting..

I have DoB for Ellen ?  1760 spouse of Thomas Larkenn DoB 1755. Somerset ?
I cant find any record of them, although the age should exclude the likelihood of it I have them as parents of a son Thomas Larkkon(sic) born 1804. dead 1854. He married in Bristol .
Ive records enough to be sure of the younger Thomas but cant find a lead to his true parents and as I say Thom Lar**** and Ellen ? seem too old to fit the bill, none the less Id like to find them.

Thomas Larkon born 1804 Somerset. Ive got him sewn up with wifey and child.

The mystery for me is : who the heck are this mans parents ?
My target is his father, who I  have as Thomas LARKENN born 1755 Bristol and wed to Ellen ?  born 1760. But this seems wrong, look at the age difference between parents and child born 1804 !

I do have the earlier and subsequent marriages for Eleanor, I will check out the Larcombe baptism you found. Could be a turning point. As Ive come up empty on all searches thus far.

I have as his parents :
Thomas larkenn 1755 and Ellen ? 1760,
however I feel that cant be right, they would be rather too old with him born 1804 and deceased in 1854 in Somerset.
Must admit Im getting a bit ratty in this hunt, Ive made a wrong turn somewhere and muddied the water. I need a fresh look at this.
Not sure why I settled on Thom and Ellen as his parents, perhaps from a census only in which case they may be elder brother or uncle and aunt rather than parent !

Thanks Bumbleb,
and a new word for me Wapentake!
Not clear yet on this bunch but if Im reading it right its Thomas with E Greenman and a son Robert aged 5 yrs, living with the inlaws..Greenman family.
What trips me up is the fact that this Thomas is son of Thomas Larkon and Ellen also. And thats the bloke Im trying to bag.
Being a new boy, and an old fart, I have trouble wrapping my head around this stuff.

Now Im really confused !
So what county census 1841 was this please ?

Thomas LARKHAM married Eleanor THOMAS - 11 June 1835, Bristol, This Is my guy, he married Eleanor G. below. A couple years after the death of first hubby.
What has me vexed is the date given for the marriage to Samuel Thomas in 1835. when said Samuel should have been cold in his grave.

Samuel THOMAS married Eleanor GREENMAN - 7 February 1835, St Augustine-The-Less Bristol
