Dumfriesshire / John Currie b1799 Dryfesdale

I would be grateful if anyone out there could help me;I have been given some info. by a member of the family-everything has been proven except for John Currie.
I was told that John was born Dryfesdale and married Janet Little in 1822 at Moffat;his parents could have been William Currieand Elizabeth Baird.
Any help would be gratefully received.

Family History Beginners Board / Privateers
« on: Monday 31 December 07 16:40 GMT (UK)  »
Is there anyone out there who knows whether there are any registers of Privateers who operated out of the UK.
I was told by a relative some 40 years ago that there had been a Privateer in the family but all of his paperwork was thrown away after he died.
The only possible connection that I have come across is a Thomas Godfordson who was a native of Wales and was a Mariner;he would have been born in the late 1700's.He was living in Sunderland when his children were born between 1806 and 1814.
Any help would be gratefully received
Dave

Wales / Thomas Godfordson-bornc1777

Thomas was my gt.gt.gtGrandfather and I have always believed that the family belonged to Sunderland;however I've just found out that his Daughter Catherine's (b1810 Sunderland)baptism record states that Thomas was a Mariner and was a native of Wales.
I have plenty of information on his descendants but know nothing about him ;the only thing that sticks in my mind is that I was told many years ago by one of my mother's cousins there was a "Privateer" in the family.
I may be clutching at straws linking Thomas(a mariner) to this fact and I would be exremely grateful if anyone could help me with this

HI
Thanks for message;Joseph Hodgson Pattinson only had one son as far as any living family members know .He had a daughter Henrietta E b 1901.I've spoken to my cousins who remember Aunt Hettie Gardiner but don't remember much about her.THe BMD index states Henrietta H Pattinson married John J Gardiner in 1916 and this is what makes us think that Joseph H had another brother.I was just trying to obtain any help before I order the certificate.

Thanks for your offer;Henrietta E Pattinson was b1875 in Sunderland to Joseph Hodgson Pattinson and Henrietta Godfordson.in 1891 the family were living at 38 South Street,St Michaels,Bishopwearmouth.
If the Henrietta H proves to be correct it suggests to me that Joseph Hodgson Pattinson had another son that neither of my cousins nor myself know about.
Thanks in anticipation
