Kerry / Re: Any information on Spring family Kerry?

"In 1578, Captain Thomas Spring, the grandson of Thomas Spring of Lavenham, settled in Ireland as the Constable of Castlemaine, where there was a small English garrison."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spring_family
That's roughly the center of a large Spring cluster around Tralee(as shown in attachment) with people like this guy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dick_Spring) who's my 2nd cousin twice removed or more mentioned here (http://www.irishtimes.com/news/another-spring-about-to-be-sprung-in-kerry-1.926071) there's a lot of Springs in Tralee.
I can also see a lot of people like this (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_Spring_Walker) who are more similar to Anglo-Irish gentry whereas my great grandmother was just a normal Irish person.
Is it likely that these two Springs are linked(descended from Captain Thomas Spring)? It seems the most likely origin of this surname in that area.

Laois (Queens) / Re: McEvoy Cullenagh Ballyroan

Re the interesting discussion on the genealogy of Laois McEvoy families, I have recently published a book 'From Laois to Kerry' which discusses the origins of the McEvoy Sept in Laois and in particular the forced transplantation of many Laois McEvoys to Co. Kerry during the period of the plantation of Laois.
I myself have Kerry McEvoys in my family tree and which sparked my interest in the the subject. I had a nice launch of the book in Vicarstown Co Laois a few months ago

Laois (Queens) / Re: Townland Tarbert
« on: Monday 14 August 17 22:52 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone have information about the history and origin of the name Tarbert (the townland)?
Many thanks.

I am a native of Tarbert Co Kerry and apparently the name came from Tarbert, Co Kerry when Laois transplantees to Tarbert Kerry returned to Laois. The Seven Septs of Laois were originally transplantated to Kerry during the plantation era in Ireland. I have recently published a book on this subject 'From Laois to Kerry' which includes details and references in relation to the Laois townland name Tarbert

I am interested in all genealogical information on seven surnames in Co Kerry whose ancestors were transplanted from Co Laois Ireland. The seven surnames are Moore, Kelly, Lawlor, Dowling, Doran, Dee or Deevy and McEvoy. I have recently published a book on the history of the transplantation 'From Laois to Kerry' and am now interested in learning more about the genealogy and survival of descendants of the original transplantees

Kerry / Re: Thomas Curtin

My mother was a Curtin from Tournafulla Co Limerick, the home of many Curtins for some centuries. Curtin genealogy of Limerick, Kerry and Cork have all been documented in 12 large volumes available in Rockchapel resource center, Co Cork
