Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / 1673 Burial Query

Hello,

I am having trouble making sense of the following entry:

January 14 1673/4 John son of uxor [wife of] Asquith buried January 14.

Does uxor on this occasion mean something else?

Regards,

Janet

In the original posting I have added James Savile's burial entry at the same church in 1671, showing the same name.

I can confirm that Rev. Roger Audsley (1603 to 1666) was Vicar of All Saints', Batley,  from 1635 to 1653.  Ejected by the Commonwealth in 1655, and restored to the living in 1662 until 1666, his death.

Janet

Thank you arthurk for your input.

Following on from your comments regarding the construction of the Sunday School.

St Cuthbert’s Church was in Early Pointed style, of fine red brick inside and outside, with stone dressings and terra cotta enrichments.  The plan of the church was arranged to fit into a short parallelogram shaped site.  It consisted of a nave, with clerestory, choir, sanctuary, and north and south aisles, bell tower, with seating for five-hundred parishioners.  The floors throughout were laid with marble mosaic concrete, and the roof finished in Welsh slate.  Architects: Henry Perkin and George Bertram Bulmer, Leeds.  Signed off July, 1883.

Regards,

Janet
