I must admit that I never lend or borrow books if I can avoid it. I hate the thought of damaging or forgetting to return a book. Just as bad when a friend offers you a book to read that they have really enjoyed and think you will too!  Awkward when you find that the said book is not something that you would have chosen to read.

Thank you for looking up the Australian Records.  He is wearing the uniform of the 2nd Australian Division – perhaps 20th or 28th Battalion and dates between 1916-1918.

Sorry, that’s all I have got. The photograph comes from a family album and I found the writing on the back when I took it out to scan.

Thank you for the quick reply. I will try your suggestion and see if I can discover something about him. Maybe further down the line the name will mean something to me.
