Armed Forces / Mounted Guards North End Station
« on: Friday 25 May 18 06:01 BST (UK)  »
Hi there, I have found a Mounted Guards record for my multiple great grandie John Parsons in the National Archives (with thanks to a RootsChat member). He joined the Mounted Guards in March 1834 and his first station was North End. I have no idea where that is (I live in Australia) and Google Maps hasn't been particularly helpful. I note that either side of this posting his children were born in Ringwould and then Sandwich. Any ideas as to where this station might have been (or still is!) greatly appreciated :)

Kent Lookup Requests / Robert and Martha Parsons last seen near Dover 1881
« on: Thursday 10 May 18 06:57 BST (UK)  »
Hi, I am about to admit defeat in finding the deaths of my 2x great grandies Robert Hale Parsons (DOB 1843 Norfolk) and Martha Eliza Parsons (nee Belsey DOB 1846 Hougham near Dover). I last have them in Hougham in the 1881 census. I can't find either in the 1891 census. I've tried by tracking through the younger children to no avail. I would appreciate another set of eyes looking for them in the records and any tips you may  have in unravelling the mystery. TIA. :)

Armagh / Peter Farmer, Catherine McConville and family
« on: Thursday 02 November 17 21:02 GMT (UK)  »
I'm researching a great grandie Peter Farmer and his family. Peter was probably born about 1820 and he died in Liverpool in 1880. He had at least 2 children - Owen Farmer (abt 1852 - 1917) and Mary (possibly middle name Ann and married name Gorry) (abt 1847-1891). The major link to Armagh is via one census entry for Mary otherwise it is just 'Ireland' for them all. Griffiths Valuations do show a lot of Farmers around Newry and surrounds. Peter may have been married to one Catherine McConvill(e) (1845 Lower Killeavy) and I have found a birth record for a Mary Ann presumably from the same marriage for 1847. I can't find anything more about Peter - birth record, parents, extended family. I also can't find Catherine's death - she may have died in Armagh or in Liverpool where at least Peter and the children moved to anywhere from the late 1840's to early 1860's. Would appreciate any information you might have  :D

Caernarvonshire / Jane Hannon from Bangor
« on: Thursday 02 November 17 20:44 GMT (UK)  »
I am researching a great grandie Jane Hannon (married name Leicester and possibly with a middle name Emma). Jane was born abt 1827 and died in Liverpool in 1875. Her father was noted as Michael (gardener) in marriage details. One census document states she was born in Bango, Cumberland (?), another as Bangor Caernarvonshire and yet another as in Lancashire! I'm going with Bangor at this point! I can't find a birth record for her and nothing on her parents apart from the mention of Michael. Hannon seems to be an Irish based name (from my observations at least) so I wonder if the family actually came over from Ireland? Thanks for any information you can provide  ;D
