Europe / Re: Dutch Baptism - Arnhem
« on: Sunday 26 December 21 17:41 GMT (UK)  »
No conclusive answer, but I found the following family in Arnhem:

Gerret/Gerrit HARTZENBERG
X Anna Maria HEG(G)EMANS
-
Arnhem - Lutheran baptisms:
Gerada bap 30 Sep 1742 - https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-89WK-G4QD?i=123
Catrijna bap 13 Feb 1735-  https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-99WK-G4JH?i=117

Notes:
1 - Of course birth location and baptism location do not have to be the same place and “Van Arnhem” could mean that he’d lived there for some time i.e. it is possible that he wasn’t born there .
2 – To help your search, it is always a good idea to supply religion and names of children ... i.e. could Ferdinand’s third son Gerrit have been named after his grandfather

Are there two Louisa MEADES born c1849 Cowes??

I think that we both suspect that the Louisa Mead from Cowes is not the same person as the Louisa Mead in South Australia?

I wondering … how sure are you regarding Louisa’s mother and Louisa’s birth details?

In Jan 1859 a family called “MEDD” arrives in South Australia on the “Clara”, but their surname is transcribed as “MEAD”.

The members of this family are:

Thomas MEDD b abt 1820 London, d 9 Mar 1874 Adelaide SA (bur West Terrace Cemetery), occ: tailor (1851, 1858, 1868)
marriage reg Q#4 1842 district St George Hanover Square
Tracey/Theresa HACKEL b abt 1820 Barnett Middlesex, d april 1875 (bur West Terrace Cemetery)

Children:
  • Arthur MEDD birth reg Q#1 1844 district St James Westminster, occ: painter (1865) X1867 Adelaide to Julia SCOTT
  • Charlotte MEDD birth reg Q#1 1847 St James Westminster, death 20 Feb 1908 Adelaide (probable partners: X#1?? abt mid 1860’s to Philip John/Henry GREEN and X#2 1901 to John DONOHOE. NB I don't know whether this is the same Phil(l)ip, but in 1879 a 40y schoemaker called Phillip Green deserted his wife in Adelaide)
  • Louisa MEDD/MEAD(?) birth reg Q#4 1849 Lambeth  (NB Louisa MEAD is “nee MEDD” in 1887 when daughter Sarah JENNINGS  is born)
  • Tracey Rebecca MEDD birth reg Q#2 1855 St Luke, Middlesex, death 10 Feb 1859 Aldinga, Wil SA

1851 Census: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:SGTW-L8X

1859 Immigration:

FYI: The family is mentioned quite a bit in TROVE.

The NAA mostly only has records from 1901 onwards.

The NAA does have pre 1900 arrivals for Brisbane ...
This is a film for 1875-1880, but the years 1878 and 1879 seem to be missing:

Voter Registration
Alfred Edward Lillywhite
Plasterer
Notes his death

I'd noticed that Rhodesian Voter record as well. At the same address was his wife (?) a Mabel Frances LILLYWHITE (i.e. the same name as his mother's):

I assume that this is the son Robin: https://www.geni.com/people/Robin-Lillywhite/6000000035140803933

A Robin Edward LILLYWHITE died in Durban on 2010/01/31. Lynette Flora LILLYWHITE was the executor of his estate. (Masters Office: Durban Masters Office)

A Lynette Flora LILLYWHITE died on 2014/10/17. Her son appears to have been the executor. (Masters Office: Pietermaritzburg Masters Office)

The couple seems to have been living in Pinetown.

Thanks guys .. I'm a lot happier with that 1906 death after being pointed out that Pierre was a shoemaker and a widower in 1870!

The other thing is that he seems to be a "cordonnier' while I only just realised that the Pierre Jean on the 1891 Jersey census was a "farmer's laborer" (if only the OP had given these details!!)

The deceased wife's name doesn't look right, but it is possible that he'd remarried.
