Oh my gosh, JM nailed it. I had the doc that JM was able to decipher, I couldn't, "Written across side – looks like ”cleared out in the Waterlily for 12S 4 March 43”
(I speculate this is him leaving the colony on the ship Waterlily. Needs further investigation)

The convice is Richard Hughes arrived 1 Oct 1830 • gaol, Parramatta, New South Wales ship Lady Harewood, No 1431 Richard Hughes SHIP Lady Harwood, 1830, on arr ? on entering goal ‘free’, native place KENT?, protestant, laborer, admitted 31st Parramatta, debtor £9 10s 0p, paid the debt, 1st nov behavior in goal ‘debtor’??
How do I track him from release also?
I think this is him: No 4702, Richard Hughes age 23, released into employment of Rev. R Cartwright, Liverpool year of arr. 1831, SHIP Lady Harwood, 7 ½ years, https://adb.anu.edu.au/biography/cartwright-robert-1882. thanks again. Jenny
