Ancestry very kindly explain about the 1939 Register at the bottom of this page https://search.ancestry.co.uk/search/db.aspx?dbid=61596

They do this with most of the databases on Ancestry.

Stan

Thank you Stan that's great info

Just to add...my sister visited Sydney last year and in the harbour was a ship called the Fishburn. She asked about it and it was from Whitby...I’m sure that’s what she said...I think she also has a photo of it

The NHS released the 1939 in 2010 Findmypast released it a few years later in November 2015 and Ancestry in May 2018.

If your parents a deceased you can get their records opened in two ways.
If you are a FindMyPast subscriber by sending a scan of the relevant death certificate to FindMyPast., this service is free.
Otherwise you can send a copy of the DC to the National Archives with the relevant fee (£23.35p).

Cheers
Guy

Thank you. I already have those. I just came across this register today. I’ve not been on ancestry for about a year.

Thank you so much Guy. I hadn’t heard of that register. I’ve looked up my parents before and hadn’t come across it, so I’m assuming it’s something that’s been released recently. It’s been a while since I was on ancestry.
Thank you again 😁
