Technical Help / PDF images from GRO
« on: Friday 22 March 24 11:43 GMT (UK)  »
I have just ordered some birth and death images. They were there to download almost instantly. Iam very impressed. But...how the heck do I get them to download to my computer? I get a message saying "insecure download blocked" I am certain this is something I am not doing correctly. Any help would be most appreciated , thank you.

You are welcome. I always find good old Mr Google is the place to start. Very sad, no fridges then. One of my lot died from a mince pie. Never discovered if that was a savoury or a sweet one!

The Common Room / Re: Ancestry Comments

Many thanks for all the replies. I mainly leave a comment when I know the information is incorrect. I usually have the correct info via certificates etc. I am just trying to warn other people before they enter incorrect information on their tree. I did get accused of copying someone's tree once in a very aggressive way . I just pointed out that the person was my great grandparent and they had not married twice, and I wouldn't dream of copying someone else's tree. That person's profile stated they were a qualified genealogist!! Maybe I will just stop doing it and leave it alone. Certain errors do affect my thrulines though, as mentioned earlier.

I have left many comments on other trees on Ancestry. I have just come across one comment I made that the owner of the tree has replied to, also in the comments section. Is there any place on Ancestry I can track my comments and see if they have been replied to please.

As I said I have two Johns as sons of William Rawding and his wife Elizabeth.
John Baptised 5 Aug 1688 In Fulbeck (only one burial found in Fulbeck 16 Feb 1688, but before Johns Baptism date)

John Baptised 13 Feb 1690 in Fulbeck. It was very usual to name a child after a dead sibling, as I think is the case here. A family would not have raised two sons with the same name. So the 1688 John would have been deceased before the baptism of the second in 1790. Hence why yours could not have been the "younger one"

"Imagine being born at the very strike of midnight on the dot."
Happened with my niece, the midwife asked my brother what day he wanted her birthday-the 10th or the 11th. He went for the 11th as it would make her a day younger!!
