London and Middlesex / Daniel Booth 1850-1
« on: Sunday 17 September 23 19:23 BST (UK)  »
Hi Folks
My 2xGt. Grandfather, Daniel Booth entered Westminster Workhouse in December 1950 because he was ill.  He died 12th January, 1851.  I have tried finding his death on the GRO index to no avail.  I think he either wasn't registered by the workhouse or he was missed off the index.
Can anyone tell me how I could find out if either of the above is right?  How can I obtain a certificate?

Flintshire / Elizabeth Long nee Price born 1743
« on: Monday 28 August 23 11:59 BST (UK)  »
Hi Folks.
I have the problem of finding the death/burial of the above.  She is my 5x gt grandmother.  Her family is from Holywell where she was born to Thomas Price and his wife Rebecca in 1743.
She married my 5x gt grandfather Joseph Long on 27th April 1770.  They had many children some of whom did not survive long.
Joseph died and was buried in Holywell on 28th June 1794.
I cannot find a death for Elizabeth despite looking from the birth of her last child in 1792.
Has anyone else been looking for her?

Lancashire / Daniel Booth

Hello Rootschatters,
I have been researching my gt gt grandfather, Daniel Booth for more than 30 years.  He married my gt gt grandmother, Elizabeth Martin in St. Nicholas Church in February 1826.  In May1828 they had twins - a son, Robert baptised at St. Peters C of E and a daughter, Mary baptised at St Peters RC.  Obviously a mixed marriage!  The next time they hit the records was the Baptism of Henry at Old Haymarket on 4th September 1939.  Henry died on 22nd September - just three weeks later.  On his death Certificate it was said he was 17 months old.  Daniel was never seen in the records after that.  I have several ideas about him - he could have jumped ship and gone to sea, he could have just scarpered or he could have been a bigamist.  Elizabeth had another child around 1844/5 but it may or may not have been Daniel's.  She said she was married in 1841 but a widow in 1851.  On the 1841 census Elizabeth had two other sons for whom I can find no record (one of them my gt  grandfather.
Has anyone any ideas?

Hi Rootschatters
This is my great aunt.  She died in 2154 Barloch Road, Glasgow in July 1954, a widow of John Paterson - a watchmaker.  Was this some kind of home or hospital?
Her usual address was given as Apsley Street, Glasgow. Can anyone tell me how to find out where she is buried?

Down / Presbyterian Church records
« on: Thursday 14 April 22 13:55 BST (UK)  »
Hello Rootschatters of County Down,.
I believe the records of Ballyroney Presbyterian Church only go back as far as 1831.  Is this the date when the church was formed, and if so, where would they have worshipped prior to that date?  I need earlier records than there are available online.  Would they have to have their baptisms and marriages carried out in the Church of Ireland or elsewhere?

Lanarkshire / Margaret Jamieson
« on: Wednesday 08 December 21 19:58 GMT (UK)  »
Margaret Jamieson was the Gt Grandmother of my late husband.  On her census return it says she was born in Wishaw around 1848/9.  She lived with her mother and stepfather before her marriage to John Hamilton in 1869.  Her mother was Mary McMahon and she married John Clark in Hamilton in 1853.  Margaret's father was Robert Jamieson.  I cannot find a marriage anywhere for Robert and Mary so it's likely they didn't wed. As it's before civil registration I wonder if there were any other churches she could have been baptised in around Cambusnethan or Wishaw?
Thank you to everyone who reads this and can respond

Lanarkshire / Hartwood Hospital, Shotts
« on: Thursday 02 December 21 11:35 GMT (UK)  »
I have been searching for the burial place of my Great aunt, Marion Scott Jackson who died at Hartwood Asylum in October 1939 aged 72.  Her usual address was given as Hill Road, Stonehouse and despite hunting through Stonehouse Churchyards and Cemeteries I have failed to find her.  At one point I tried to find if she had been buried with her mother in Bathgate but apparently not.  Was there a burial ground attached to Hartwood where she may have been buried but I understood that was only for paupers who had no known kin.  Marion left a husband in Stonehouse, two sons and a daughter.
Can anyone shine a light into this dark world?

West Lothian (Linlithgowshire) / Burials in Bathgate?
« on: Monday 29 November 21 19:38 GMT (UK)  »
My Gt Grandmother died in 1924 and was, I think, buried in Bathgate.  She died in Gourock at the home of her daughter and they took her all the way to Bathgate!  She was Jane Nisbet mn Lauder.  I was wondering if I could find out where, and also perhaps, if, her daughter who died in 1939 in Shotts was buried with her as I cannot find a burial for her either.   Her daughter was Marion Scott Jackson mn Nisbet.
As I live in England I would find it difficult to visit for the information, but, is there a website or booklet I could buy, to be able to find out?

Dublin / Daniel Booth born c 1800
« on: Thursday 04 November 21 15:39 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all the rootchatters
I am looking for assistance in finding the above.  He is my gt gt grandfather and married my gt gt grandmother in Liverpool in February 1826.  He fathered (as far as I know) five children between then and the last time he was mentioned was in September 1839, and so missed the first census held in UK.  He was a shoemaker and there was a shoemaker of that name lodging with other shoemakers and the family whose wife/mother was also born in Ireland in London.  It would appear he fell ill in December 1850 and was admitted to the Workhouse Infirmary in London and died in January 1851.  The lady and her husband with whom he was lodging were Baber.  I tried to find out if the lady whose name was Margaret was perhaps related to him and on later censuses said she was born in Dublin.
I have searched for him for over thirty years looking at all the children/men who were born between 1785 and 1805 as his marriage cert says he is of full age.  I have tracked every one of them through BMD's to eliminate them but tono avail.
Can anyone help?
