Hi folk's,been looking at Familysearch images for electoral register tracking family mainly in
Chester le street. There seems to be every town and village covered but for the life of me I can't
find Langley Park  home to my wife's family,I would have assumed connected to Lanchester ward
but doesn't seem to be,any thought's and advice would be appreciated particularly the 1914 roll
as her Gt Grandfather stated as his residence on enlistment in the Great war.

Cork / Kirton,Curtin or corten?
« on: Friday 11 June 21 22:30 BST (UK)  »
Hi folk's my Gtx2 Grandfather is recorded 1861 to 1891 cencus records as John Kirton.he married
Catherine Reynolds in Newcastle c1856 but the certificate has his name spelt Corten, his father is recorded also as John occupation soldier his birthplace has come down in family folklore as Cork.their
large family were baptised at St Joseph's Catholic church in Gateshead as Kirton,Kurtin and Curtin.
Do you think there is any chance of finding the family in Irish records I appreciate many different
spellings turn up of Irish surnames.

The Common Room / Ancestry members help appreciated Pope/Round family.
« on: Sunday 30 May 21 14:08 BST (UK)  »
Hi folk's,I'm an unpaid member of said site but my brother is a fully paid member,we were discussing
family tree matters recently and he remarked that a host of our family were present on what looks
like an Italian members tree which is very strange. He has tried looking at the tree to see what the
connection is but can't figure out as he's not sure how to use these public member trees so I wondered if someone could look or give us advice on how to.Taking my Grandmother as an example
in the public member tree section by entering Doris Pope b.1904 Millom.Cumbria there is among the
trees listed one Albero Genealogico Pravettoni which is the tree in question, now we have filled in the
blanks for the whole family and never has a connection come to light my only thought being some
of the Pope family emigrated to the U.S in the early 1900's and maybe a marriage into an Italian
family might be the reason My Grandfather's family were Round's originating in Dudley again no
obvious connection.

Evening folk's,we believe James is the brother of my Gtx2 Grandfather John F Smith who was
born near Wendover bucks in 1825 and Married in Newcastle 1851.James seems to have joined the army and in the 1871 to 1901 Census is in Alnwick recorded as an army pensioner on one census
his unit is recorded as 3rd Battalion Northumberland Fusilier's.Are there any records that would be available for James or anywhere to look for information?

Northumberland / Wallis/Henderson marriage kirkhaugh 1809.
« on: Saturday 23 January 21 15:41 GMT (UK)  »
Hi folk's,Henry Wallis/Wallace was my Gtx3 Grandfather born Kirkhaugh,I've not gone further back
with his family but having a clear out of old papers I found a note I must have made years ago
showing his marriage to Mary Henderson July 1809 in Kirkhaugh,on familysearch there is another entry identical apart from marriage place which state's Horton Northumberland. His parents were George and Margaret(maiden name unknown). There are two Mary Hendersons one born 1794 which
seems too late for an 1809 wedding and one 1791 who could be the Mary Henderson in the 51
cencus in Alston, just wondered if any of you armchair detectives could shed any light on any of these
folk's Henry ended up farming in Teesdale his history I'm aware of.
Regards Steve.

Great uncle's ww1 Records are on ancestry and I had a look at the weekend, his name was John Kirton
RAMC,on his attestation his address was 116 Saltwell Road Gateshead this would be 1914/15,later in
his records his address is 41 Split crow road which borders Felling this seems to be 1918/19 I'm
just wondering if any family members were with him as his Father was dead and mother elsewhere.

Durham / wayman family help please.
« on: Monday 13 April 20 13:20 BST (UK)  »
hi folk's,You've been a great help in the past regarding this families early years wonder if you can make sense of another mystery, with all this time on my hands and Ancestry's free weekend I was
looking at my Gt grandmothers brother Edward Wayman b. Newcastle around 1868/9.I have his
history right up to the 1911 census in South Shields, now he died in 1932 and is buried Preston
cemetery shown as husband of the late Mary(Carrot?),all good so far but no Mary or eldest son
Edward in said 1911 census.
There is a Mary and son Edward near matches on birth dates and places in Tynemouth in the 1911
Cencus but with a Gilbert Wayman as head of household. Now my Edward has a Henrietta Gallagher
with him as housekeeper second youngest child Edna b Gateshead mmn Carrot, youngest Etty (I
suspect the Henrietta b S/S 1908) mmn Munton? can anyone unravel this one and rule out the
Tynemouth family I can find nothing on any Gilbert Wayman's.
Much appreciated Steve.
