Midlothian / Hunter
« on: Monday 13 March 06 17:50 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone recognise the name of David Hunter who married Chistian (Christina) Morison  on 12 February 1821 in Edinburgh?

Christian is easy enough to research but I'm having difficulty with David which is frustrating since it's the Hunter side I'm researching!

Any help would be appreciated.

Does anyone recognise John Armstrong & Isabel Little who must have married around 1820 -  I suspect in the Canonbie area. They had 6 children - Thomas, Robert, Isabella, John, Hugh and Julia.

John and Isabella were both born in 1796 according to the IGI but I can't trace them back any further.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm looking for any information on James Bowers and Rabina Bagnal  who had a son William born 3/4/1794 in Edinburgh.

James was a labourer.

From what I gathered it seems Bagnal an Irish surname?

Banffshire / Mary Lyon
« on: Monday 20 February 06 17:21 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone recognise the name Mary Lyon from Banffshire?

Mary had a daughter Eliza Jane Lyon in 1847 in Gravesend, Kent where she worked as a domestic servant. I don't know if she went there to have her baby as she was single at the time. She later married a David Constant.

The only Mary Lyon I can find with suitable dates was born at Forglen, Banff on 30/6/1832.

Funnily enough Eliza returned to Cullen, Banff to get married in 1866.

Any help is appreciated.

Midlothian / James, Jane & John Stewart
« on: Monday 20 February 06 13:33 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone recognise the names James (b15/3/1846), Jane (b19/6/1847) & John (20/5/1849) Stewart?

Their parents were Margaret McNaughton and James Stewart who married 3/1/1845.

Margaret McNaughton was born in 1823. James was born 1815 according to the 1841 census. This is the only information I have on him - 26 years old and a printer journeyman. He appears in no more census' and I can't find a death certificate.

If anyone can shed any light I'd be extremely grateful.

Armed Forces / Scottish soldier

I have the 1868 marriage cerificate for my great-great-great-grandparents David and Helen Logan.
His father is given as James Logan and what I think reads
sergent 92nd/93rd regiment guards.

I have never been able to find a death certificate for James to carry out further investigation.

When David died in 1912 his fatherw as listed as a weaver.

I'm at a dead end so any help is appreciated.
