Hi Carole,
his name was John Drummond Shaw. he was born in 1925 and died in 1947 aged just 22 years.
his father was john shaw and his mother was violet shaw nee Drummond.
they weren't from the anfield area. he was born and lived in the Wavertree area of Liverpool so I'm not sure why he was christened in anfield but his funeral was also in anfield.(at the crematorium not a church)

Hi Boo,
no luck with familysearch so I think the library may be the way to go unless you have any other ideas?
I don't understand why its so difficult to find this particular record as I've managed to find other family baptisms with no problems.
my uncle died in 1947 so there would be no problem with putting his name on the site but don't know if it would be of any help

Hi Boo, thanks for getting back to me.
I found the record on the Ancestry website but there is no image with the record.
it just lists christening place as Anfield, Lancashire, England

Hi all,
would anybody be able to help with information regarding a christening in 1941?
my uncle was christened in late january 1941 at age 15 in Anfield. this is the only information i can find and i am hoping to discover the church in which this would have taken place. i am not sure if it was a catholic or protestant service.
many thanks

Thanks very much Stan. I've been asking around but nobody seemed to have any idea about the town waiter job so nice to know

Hi all, would anyone know what a horse keeper would do in 1870's Liverpool. I know that may sound daft but my GGG grandfather was listed as horse keeper but lived in haylock street (Dingle area I think). I was wondering if it would be anything to do with the "omnibuses" as he was previously an omnibus conductor.
Another of his jobs was a ' towns waiter'  anyone able to help as to what exactly this was?
Many thanks

World War One / 11th July 1916, Frederick Shaw, aged 22, Kings Liverpool regt

Hi, could anyone tell me how I can find the platoon and section my great uncle served in?
I know he was a Lance corporal in the 20th (service) battalion Kings Liverpool Regiment (4th pals). His service number was 23828.
I know he died of wounds on 11th July 1916 at no5 hospital which was set up on the racecourse in Rouen and is buried in St. Sever cemetery just next to it. I know his regiment were involved in fighting for Trones Wood in the early hours of 11th July but I'm not sure if he was wounded here or earlier and succumbed at a later date.
I'm trying to find as much about him as I can and would appreciate any help anyone could give.

Hi gaffy, thanks for the link. Very interesting as i had a couple of ancestors that were cowkeepers and some of the street names are close to where I grew up. Didn't know about the dairy's being in the middle of communities. The reference to the pub being knocked down was news to me too. Thanks again
