Technical Help / Re: Can not log on to my printer
« on: Thursday 19 August 21 19:22 BST (UK)  »
I suggeest you go into your control panel and find "Devices and Printers".  See if your printer is listed and if not, add it.  If the printer is listed you want to make sure that it is the default printing device.

Good Luck.

The Lighter Side / Re: How many people are related to the Mayflower pilgrims?

I am one of the fortunate ones who has traced my ancestory back to four pilgrims who came over on the Mayflower. I feel pretty confident that this is true because I was admitted into the Pilgrim John Howland Society and had to prove my case.  If you want a good story, Google the pilgrim John Howland.

I have used Carbonite for years and have been satisfied with the experience.  And yes, I have had to retrieve files and can say that the system works.

If you can get into the file you might trying compacting it [Tools>Compact File].  At completion you will get a message that says something like "X% compacted" (or something like that).  Compact again until you get the message to say "0% compacted".  Your file should be clean as possible.

That's great advice from Heywood and worth pursuing.

My William Jones (b. 1794) was born in Wiltshire and was a shoemaker (or cordwainer) as was his son.  Occupation is sometimes a key bit of information that allows one to have a better chance in identifying the correct family.

From time to time HP issues new drivers or fixes to known problems.  I wouild explore this avenue as well as being sure your Windows 10 software is up to date.

When you installed the software were you able to print a test message?

Good question.
If you are not using the Ancestry/synch feature one might be inclined to keep the older version.  But my guess is that you might not have any support for that version and thus, upgrading might make sense in the long run.
