30th March in the Church of All Souls at Liverpool she contracted marriage with William Abbott - witnesses Joseph Cost[b?]y and Sarah B[     ].

Possibly Costley

Thank you! Yes, I read it as Costley too, albeit not easily!

Not puzzling at all. Ellen McCarthy's marriage was registered in Liverpool South district in the first quarter of 1948 volume 10d page 1104. The date on the 1939 register is only when that was annotated with her change of name.

Ah! I see. Thank you. Yes, with that knowledge it is, of course, no longer puzzling! It now fits perfectly and does indeed solve a puzzle for me - one of many with a tricky family tree! I am always grateful for everyone's help on here as I learn as I go. Perhaps one day, I could even return the favour and help you with a 'puzzle' of yours!  :)

Thanks

Thank you very much. All Souls ties in with lots of sibling connections. The date is a puzzle. I have Ellen McCarthy's DOB correct and she links through into the 1939 Census, where she is still a McCarthy then a very helpful sidenote telling me she marries an ABBOTT on 15.04.1948, of which there is a record for! All puzzling!

Thank you for taking the time to transcibe!

Hello all.
Normally I can make educated guesses (with the help of Google!) but I’m struggling with this one. I imagine a William Abbott might be a future spouse?
Any help, very much appreciated!

Hi Marienne,

Please could you look up John McCarthy, 20 Saltney St, buried at Ford age 63 on May 1 1953. Just wondering if he's with anyone else.

Many thanks

Hello there,

I'm looking for help in finding any further info on this family.

Name   Anastasia HALL
Event Type   Christening
Event Date   19 Jul 1818
Event Place   Stabannan, County Louth, Ireland
Father's Name   Thomas HALL
Mother's Name   Margaret

I do know Anastasia has at least 1 Brother called John Hall (born circa 1811)

They are in Liverpool by 1841. I'd dearly love to try and find out more about their lives before this. In the 1851 England Census, Thomas puts his birthplace as County Cavan (as does his wife but I've been advised this may have not been reliable as the enumerators got happy with ditto-ing!)

Any help, gratefully received.  :)

Cavan / Re: Kind Help Required Please!

I think you are a bit confused.  In 1841 the whole household has 'I' for Ireland and in 1851 Thomas is born County Cavan with the two Margarets dittoed.  I wouldn't pay too much attention to the dittos as it was more often just laziness on the part of the enumerator.  Sometimes you get lucky and a person gives a birth county in Ireland but it doesn't happen very often.

Many thanks Debra. Is it likely to mean Thomas would have been born in Cavan but not necessarily the others?
