Yes - I'm fairly sure (95%) it's 1910. From 1939 Role info he says his OB is 31.01.1910 which makes him most likely a James Bolton W.Derby 8b 320 Jun 10 record. However, can't rule out in the same section James Bolton Liverpool 8b 98 and a little later James Edward Bolton W Derby 8b 331 Jun 1910 (although he's an outsider as Edward seems not in keeping with other family names..)

His Mother was Alice Brown. James Bolton was illegitimate. I'm guessing 'Bolton' was the Father's name but at the mo, it's only a guess!

Hi there,

I'm trying to track down a relative and *think* I've narrowed it down to 3 possible records. Will I have to bite the bullet and order all 3 or is there a way of being more certain?

Thanks! M

Thank you everyone.

How do I go about releasing the records? I have the death certificate, who do I apply to?

She was involved in war work - ROF in Kirkby (section 8 I think...?) Again, it's on my 'wish list' to find out more about this but I think I'm best starting with the basics as I wouldn't have a clue how to start with that!!!    :D ::)

All of your time on this thread for me is very much appreciated. Thank you.

Dear all,

I cannot tell you how much I appreciate all your thoughts and advice on this. My Nan meant and means so much to me.

Rosie / Pauline  - her sister Annie was born 24.01.1914 She married a Lawrence Pooley. I don't know how long they stayed in and around Birmingham for.

avm228 - She was 'that' Primrose Owens. Her parents were Alice Brown who married Samuel Arthur Owen who died in 1926. She then remarried to a John Thomas (known as Jack) Riley around 1928...(Alice is herself an enigma!)

I can track other members of the family to 7 Gregson Street in 1939...

nanny jan - interesting about the possibility her details are redacted. She died 13/02/2016. Annoyingly I can find very little 'official' about her despite her fairly unusual name except electoral registers.

Thank you!

Hi there,

Why can't I find my Grandmother on the 1939 Census lists? I know 'around the time' she was living with her sister Annie in Birmingham somewhere but also went to work in Pwhelii (hotels / casual work) before returning to Liverpool to do war work. That bit's a little sketchy but her name is Primrose so I assumed (foolishly) I'd be able to find her! DOB 19.04.1923 Surname officially Owens but sometimes an Owen and she sometimes liked being called Rose.
I've looked at all the reasons why I can't find somebody on the official pages but I still don't understand why I can't find her!
Any experts out there? I've given myself a headache going through seemingly hundreds of listings on Ancestry!  ::) :o

Ha ha! Yes handwriting is some challenge at times! I'm ashamed to say I studied Latin at school - clearly not very well!

Thank you again, really appreciated.
