Glamorganshire Lookup Requests / Re: Trealaw Cemetery Lookup
« on: Thursday 08 January 09 01:14 GMT (UK)  »
Your plot reference is of the wrong format for Trealaw Cemetery.

It should be: C 67

However, looking at the transcribed index, one of the names is actually listed under C 69 (may be a typing error).

If you send your email in a PM to Vicky, I'm sure she'll be happy to provide digital photos of the plot(s) when she next visits Trealaw.

Click here to send PM to Vicky: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?action=pm;sa=send;u=4621

She has been posting photos & inscriptions of Trealaw Cemetery headstones on this website:
http://trealawcemetery.proboards92.com/index.cgi
Section 'C' has not yet been done, however.

On Friends Reunited, 'Rhondda Technical Institute' has been grouped under 'Rhondda College'

There are only a few names listed for 1948/49:
Stuart Burnett, Bryn Howells, William Jenkins & David Pearce.

My GG Grandparents migrated from Somerset to Llwynypia & resided at 22 Cambrian Terrace in 1891.

I shall try to take a modern day photo for you the next time I pass by there.

Just found a building control / planning department document outlining the construction of two new dwellings on the site of the former 7, 8 & 9 Cambrian Terrace
http://www.rhondda-cynon-taff.gov.uk/stellent/groups/Public/documents/Reports/021874.pdf
From the description, it would appear that No 10 is still standing.

And again for nos. 15 & 16...
"5. Application No: 08/0092 - Erection of 2 no. semi detached dwellings, 15 And 16 Cambrian Terrace, Llwynypia."

I'll try to get to take a photo as soon as I can...

Zooming in on the above, it appears to be a house name.

Using 'Google Maps' to plot a route between Pen y Gwaith, Cwm Uchaf & Capel Curig gives the distance between the three places of 16 miles:
(This may not be the correct Cwm Uchaf)

Ambers,

An image I just found on-line:

http://www.oldukphotos.com/graphics/Wales%20Photos/Glamorganshire,%20Rhondda,%20Penygraig%20%20Hendrecefn%20Rd%201922.jpg

Follow the terrace on the left hand side of the image until you see the side wall of a house that steps out.
This is where the playground is in the above photo of Hendrecafn Road, and the site of your ancestors house...
