I think it might be Fifeshire, St Monace as that is the only parish in Fife that starts with St.

Fife / Re: James Cunningham, marriage look up

According to the ScotlandsPeople index of marriages, James Cunningham and Williamina Carruthers were married at Cowdenbeath in 1921.  If you go to www.Scotlandspeople.gov.uk you can download a copy of the certificate.  The cost is £6.00 for 30 credits, each download requiring 6 credits.

The File name merely says IMG and when I hover over it I get "Enter a name for the file you are saving".   The Save as Type is JPEG/Exif.

Technical Help / Problem trying to transfer an image to Irfanview
« on: Sunday 23 May 10 18:08 BST (UK)  »
Can someone please explain why I keep getting the following message after scanning and saving an image then opening IrfanView to resize it :-

"Can't read file header !  Unknown file format or file not found !"

I'm using a Canon MP240 Printer/Scanner and the image is saved in a folder C:\Users\Isles\Pictures\MP Navigator EX\2010_05_23. The File name is shown as IMG but even if I leave it or change it to something else, the above message appears.

Blanniseron baffles me also but see www.planville.com/plans_nouveau/valenciennes
If you click Nord at the bottom of the page you'll see a town called Valenciennes on the map.

I know that this will be of limited interest but just for the record:-

"Confluent smallpox, i.e. having the lesions fused together.  Most cases of smallpox show both discrete and confluent lesions.  These terms are therefore relative, a discrete case usually showing some confluence and a confluent case usually showing some discrete lesions."

Technical Help / Re: OpenOffice.org 3.2
« on: Monday 17 May 10 11:35 BST (UK)  »
In my original posting I mistakenly said that I had accidentally deleted everything stored in the 'Open a document' page.  This was incorrect, and what I meant to say was that although I deleted some redundant items I retained others e.g. my list of passwords. I returned to the page sometime later only to find that "This folder is empty".
My thanks to all for your help.

On the "Welcome to Open Office" page I clicked "Open a document" and on the following page a message appeared  -  "The documents file folder is empty."
I have tried your suggestions but none of them work so it looks as if I'll have to download one of the programs you mentioned.  Many thanks for your help.
