Oh now, I've learnt something today, when did the practice of parents not being on the marriage cert change? So far, having the father's name has been a god-send!

I've just had a DNA confirmation that the couple in this record are my 5 x Great Grandparents! The transcribed records have the bride as Juliana, but it looks more like Joanna to me? Also can anyone deciepher any parents of J? and Nicholas?

Thanks in advance

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Re: Tomb inscription

Thank you to you both for your replies, this tomb is quite interesting to us, as it was not originally our family tomb, but family rumour tells us the MacSweeneys (my family) did a favour for the McCarthys and from this date on, my ancestors were interned here.

More interesting is the tradition was to not put the women's details so if this a Jane, she would have been of some stature. James is more likely. How you got all that detail from one photo, is very impressive, thank you again.

The tomb is in Rath, Tralee, Ireland.  I took the picture on a visit from Liverpool last year. I was kicking myself I didn't have anything to do a rubbing of the inscription but I wasn't expecting to see such a grand tomb.

Hi Lisa

This is my first post so I hope it's useful!  I had similar matching issues with the website I use ans it was cured by clearing out all my cookies on my laptop. Worth a go?
