Thank you for the reply! I will look into that.

If anyone else has any links or information it would be much appreciated.

Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone else working on their family tree has any links with the following people?

Alexander Ogston (b 1701 d 1771) who was married to Ann Scott (unsure on exact dates)
William Ogston (b around 1749 d 1836) who was married to Margaret Robertson.
William also had 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Their names are Alexander Ogston, James Ogston, Margaret Ogston, Jean Ogston, John Ogston.

William and Margaret had 4 children. Their names were Mary, Alexander, Anne, and William.

If anyone has any links to these people in there family tree or any information that would help my research it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ricki Ogston

Derry (Londonderry) / Grundle from Coleraine

Hi,

I am just wondering if anyone has any connection in their family trees to any Grundle's from Coleraine?
I am having some trouble with my research on my mother's side of the family and it would be good to find anyone who has some information that could help.
My Grandad's name on my mum's side of the family was Ronald Grundle (b. 1933 d. 2017), his brother is Desmond Grundle. I believe his mother's name was Elizabeth Grundle, but I don't have too much information so am unsure of birth dates and exact spelling of names. If anyone has any connections in their tree or has any information that might help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ricki

The National Archives website has a section dedicated to the Jacobite uprisings at: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/education/resources/jacobite-1745/

Appears to have a lot of documents including lists of prisoners, fighters, letters, maps, etc. This might help a bit.

I've managed to find this book that has been preserved by the Google archiving project. The book is called 'A List of Persons Concerned in the Rebellion'. It appears to have been printed in 1890 with the information taken from various transcripts, etc available at the time. It can be read online at: https://archive.org/details/alistpersonscon00excigoog

Even found a few members from branches of my own family tree in there. Quite interesting.

I have a George Ogston in my family tree however it appears he may have been born in Cruden, Aberdeenshire around 1870, son of William Ogston. Does this seem like any connection at all?

I have also recently found an old book in the archives of the National Library of Scotland titled 'Supplement to the Genealogical History of the Families of Ogston'. This was privately printed in 1897 and contains historical information on the Ogston family, copies of the family trees dating back to 1200 AD, maps, stories, and general history. It can be read online for free here: https://digital.nls.uk/histories-of-scottish-families/archive/95680963

Hopefully this will also help any other Ogston's trying to trace their roots.
