There is a book published recently entitled 'Winsley from Cecilia to Victoria'.
It lists names, inventories, trades, land sales, wills etc from Saxon to Victorian times.
It's written by Robin & Barbara Harvey.
Published by The Hobnob Press, PO Box 1838, East Knoyle, Salisbury, SP3 6FA.
ISBN 978-0-946418-62-6

Hi,
Recently bought a fascinating book on the Winsley, Turleigh area. It details names , land holdings, inventories, land sales etc from Saxon times to Victoria.
My question is, am I allowed to post details of the book here for anyone interested?

Regards,
Pilly ???

This photo of a memorial in Russell churchyard, New Zealand may be of interest to someone. Hope the quality is ok, I've had to squeeze it to fit.

One of my great grandmothers was a Sarah Ann Pofley b c1842 from Hungerford. She married Henry Belton b c1840 East Grinstead. He was a Military Prison Warder at Aldershot, Colchester & Greenlaw, Scotland.
Any information on the Pofl(f)ley name would be much appreciated.

That we will be another trip to London next year. We've sent for young Joseph's BC, he seems to be the link for tracing my wife's Grisley past.
(That sounds terrible!). Joseph Grisley & Elizabeth Stock do marry later, which is why we think Joseph Stock took his stepfather's name.
Thanks again,
PillyP
