Attached is a parish register that indicates the burial of Edward Midwinter is in Woolen? But I can't find it on Google and the record in ancestry indicates the burial place as Aldsworth Gloucestershire England. What am I missing  ???

Gloucestershire / Burial Record Information

Hello all,

attached is a portion of a burial record from the Parish of Aldsworth. The person I'm interested in is John Midwinter. As you can see, he was buried on 11 May 1781; however, I'm not sure what the vfil~n implies next to his name. I am assuming it stands for Vifilation which is listed several times on the page. Google shows me no love?

Worcestershire / Further Research Help Needed
« on: Wednesday 15 January 20 21:14 GMT (UK)  »
Hello all !

I'm trying to track down the maiden name of an ancestor. I found this marriage record on Family Search:

Code: [Select]
Note that the brides mother's name is Elizabeth Tirrell. When I search on Ancestry, every other tree lists the name as Elizabeth Robbins.

I can't find an image of this marriage on Family Search or Ancestry - not sure why? I'd like to confirm that the mother's maiden name is Tirrell or Robbins but not sure how to do this or where to search next?

Any ideas?

Gloucestershire Completed Lookup Requests / Help with Larceny :)

Hello all,

I've just uncovered a misdeed perpetrated by an ancestor but am not sure what was stolen?

Edmund Roffe was sentenced to imprisonment (6 months hard labour) in Gloucestershire - I found the record on Ancestry in the England & Wales, Criminal Registers, 1791-1892.

I then found the attached article on It indicates that Edmund Roffe was accused of stealing 'slates,' the property of Lord Sherborne.

What are slates? To get 6 months hard labour they must have been valuable?

London and Middlesex / Birth vs Baptism - did the priest record it?

Haven't seen this yet in my research? It appears that whomever was recording the information, actually documented the age of the infant being baptized? Can someone confirm? Also, cant find Okeridge in the UK - is that the name of a farmhouse do you think?

London and Middlesex / Some newbie help please - Civil Registration Index

Merry Christmas all  :)

I hope I'm in the right location for this post? I've been researching a branch of my tree that leads to Kensington and have come across the England & Wales, Civil Registration Birth Index, 1837-1915.

Unfortunately, these records only indicate the name of the child, the the year and quarter when they were born? I wan't more... but am not sure where to turn. Name is Louisa Roffe and she was born between Oct. and Dec. 1849. Where do I get more - Ancestry doesn't provide any help.

Please help :'(
