Does anyone know of Wardleys who had a child/relative/ward at boarding school in Hackness, Yorkshire, run by Robert Turnbull, and visited Hackness, nr Scarborough from Tasmania?

In 1877 Robert (husband of Mary Watson of Scalby) writes to inform his nieces of his Golden Wedding and mentions that he has had no reply (to his gift of £10) from Mrs Wardley in Australia, who wants to return to England. His nephew Robert Hope had emigrated to Melbourne c 1863 but had died a few years later.

He lived & worked in Liverpool before his retirement. The sources are census data etc and family knowledge.
I was just hoping that a Thompson descendant might see the post and know of my main Thompson source, N. Spence. I've added the surnames to my interests.

Mary Ellen's parents were Thomas Thompson and Elizabeth Donisthorpe

Mary Ellen Thompson married John Samuel Pritchard in 1833. He was born in Clerkenwell in 1809.I have a note that their son George Thompson Pritchard (whose name pops up in DNA linked to Australia),born Chichester, Sussex 1835,had George Thompson (Anti-slavery MP, Liverpool?) as godfather.

The print-out I have was from N. Spence c 2007.

My grandfather was Frank Thomas Pritchard, b. Islington 1869

Posting under 'Lancashire' as that is where my grandfather, a descendant, lived.(Born London 1869, d. Llangollen c 1951)

My main printed information on the Thompson/Pritchard line came from N. Spence: would love to reconnect if anyone knows of him.
I have some hand-written notes by Mary Ellen's father Thomas Thompson (b.1777) on births, christenings etc.

DNA results have come up with some links to Australia (George Thompson Pritchard).

 ??? My very thoughts. Barely recognise any names or links, just a couple from my mother's paternal line.(Thompson/Pritchard, Leics/London/Liverpool)

Three links with Jamaica (all names unknown) are puzzling, though gt-grandfather did work there for a while. Same parish as where he was a Freemason...did he abandon someone whose surname is one letter different? Terrible to look up 'births' and see 'complexion' as one of the columns. This doesn't feel good. He was already estranged from his family in Canada but no stories have filtered down as to why. The 'map' shows Norfolk (correct) but no links have come from there.

Disappointed...but still intrigued and unable to challenge 'the science'.

Thank you for all replies.
The  baptism records of Mary Ann Smith and Sophia M. give the parents as William and Margaret ,as does the marriage cert, so at present I'm following 'William Smith', though tempted by 'William H(Henry/Howard)'. Sophia Martha b 1824 married John E.B Artis, son of Mary Bowles, hence the Bowles visitors. Their occupations tie in with an 1851 solo Mary Ann 'dressmaker' in Yallops Row but no evidence of her in 1841.
Mary Ann was just able to sign her name on her marriage licence: her first child was due, possibly why she went in person to sign it. Sophia Martha (if they were siblings) was unable to sign.
I will follow up the Norwich marriage of Margaret as widow.

 ???Can anyone help me find the right William Smith, mariner, named as father of Mary Ann Smith on her baptism cert 12th October 1821 and on her 1855 Great Yarmouth marriage cert. to John William Morris? Spouse Margaret......(Howard?Davies?)
Mary Ann was a servant colleague of Susan(na) Denton, witness at her marriage; they worked for Samuel Marsh. The other witness was William Barber.
She may have had a sister Sophia Martha (b.1824)

Hello.  I'm in touch with someone who mentions exactly the same name (Hugh Bromedge).
One ancestor ''died about 1714 in Worcs and married a lady by the name of Mary Franklin on 17 July 1733 in Holborn in Lincolns Inn Chapel.''
There ws another one, a merchant who went bankrupt.

Have you tried Peerage sites or Three Decks?

There was a William Littlewood, moulder, living at 2, Alberta Cottages Southtown in 1894.My grandfather lived there in 1905.The cottages were still up in 1932.
