Somerset Completed Lookup Requests / Re: White's from South Petherton
« on: Tuesday 09 May 06 11:08 BST (UK)  »
these bmds might shed some light if you don't already have them -
Thomas White marriage 3Q 1861 Yeovil 5c 816 on same page as Jane Bowditch.
Louisa J White b. 3Q 1866 Yeovil 5c 488
Jane White  age 43 d. 2Q 1870 Yeovil 5c 354.
There's a separate entry for Eliza White b. 2Q 1866 Yeovil 5c 564 so she doesn't seem to be same person as Louisa.
Jane Bowditch is enumerated in 1861 census in South Street, South Petherton b. approx 1827 and a sewer of kid gloves. This matches her age on death entry. There's also a birth in 1Q 1870 of Ellen Jane White who dies 3Q 1870 - possibly another daughter?
Can only see Louisa in 1881 as servant in Clapp household S. Petherton

sorry birth was 3Q 1844 in Shardlow vol 19 pg 566. Shardlow covers Ockbrock (not previous invented place).
There's also a David Daniel Bosworth born in Warwickshire 1845 if plain David doesn't work out.

Hi,

Gay Street runs from The Circus to Queen Square and these days is mainly offices including the Jane Austen Society. The main architects of Georgian Bath were father and son both called John Wood. There's a series of books called Pevsner's Buildings of England published by Yale and there is one on Bath by Michael Forsyth. They are usually very detailed so should give you some info. The Pevsners aren't cheap, so it might be worth trying a library get it for you in case it doesn't have anything useful for you.
