How interesting! And many thanks for your reply. I thought it would be an interesting project for my local history group here in Nantwich trying to connect William with the Astronomer Royal but I soon realised after a quick search online that trying to unravel this web of family connections would take a great deal time and detailed research and wouldn’t necessarily prove successful.

Cheshire Lookup Requests / Marriage Lookup -1876

Hello

Could someone possibly help me with this.

I need to know the name of the father of Emma Edwards given on her marriage certificate.

She married Joseph Heler in the September qtr of 1876 in the Nantwich registration district. I think they may have married at Wybunbury parish as this is where both families lived.

Many thanks

Jay

Warwickshire Lookup Requests / Burial Lookup - Sarah Bellett
« on: Sunday 05 September 21 16:39 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I’m looking for the burial of Sarah Bellett.

In her will dated 5 June 1826 she was described as ‘late of Hall Hayes, Sampford Arundel, Somerset but now of Kings Heath near Birmingham’. Her will was proved 29 Feb 1832.

Many thanks

Jay

The Common Room / What does this mean?
« on: Thursday 02 September 21 19:03 BST (UK)  »
Sorry if this sounds rather obvious but I would appreciate it if someone could explain in Ladybird Book language what the following passage in the will of my ancestor, Ann Scott, means?

“whereas under the last will and testament of Elizabeth Scott the first wife of my ... late husband Jonathan Scott bearing date 27 Nov 1799 by virtue of a ... deed ... made ... after ... the said will of ... Elizabeth Scott ... the residue & remainder of the personal estate & effects ... consisting of £1,000 secured by the bond of Sir Richard Hill, Baronet & John Hill Esq. of £3,000 stock or thereabouts in the 3 per centum consolidated bank annuities ... the ... respective sums of ... stock amounting ... together as calculated according to the price of stock to the sum of £2,845-17 ...”

What are consolidated bank annuities? And is 3 per centum the price to purchase the annuities?

Feeling a little confused.

Manny thanks, Jay :)

Hi Rosie

Thank you so much for this.

I have seen these wills but didn’t realise they were free :o I also noticed they are watermarked nevertheless it’s still helpful and saves wasting money on irrelevant documents.

Cheers
Jay😊
