Northumberland / Jane ATKINSON, 1800s, NBL

I am resarching the ancestors of my g.g. grandmother Jane ATKINSON, age 42 on the 1881 Bedlington census. I have found a possible mother for Jane, father John, who married William FAIRBAIRN, pitman, on 10 Oct 1857 in Auckland, but I don't know if there is any real link at this point.
I found an 1881 census in Newburn with a coalminer John ATKINSON, wife Mary, and 2 older unmarried sons. The oldest son, John (age 47), was born in Auckland, where my Jane ATKINSON was married. Earlier census records from Bedlington (1871 & 1861) and 1851 Durham show a family with a daughter Jane born about 1840 along with 5 siblings: John, William, ?, Martha & George. Son John is 17 in 1851 so may or may not be the oldest child.
On-line I found a marriage for a John ATKINSON to a Mary on 2 Jun 1826 in Wallsend. She was Mary Ann FORSTER, who was born in Longbenton (like the Mary on the 1871 census, it is called Benton on the 1881 census). Also looking on-line I found 3 daughters born in Wallsend: Isabella Forster, Elizabeth and Isabella Seymow. Their christening dates would not exclude them from the same family but there is no record of them of the 4 census records I saw.
I was hoping that someone might recognize them and could tell me if I was on the right track or not. I wish I could feel a little more sure that John ATKINSON (b. 31 Aug 1808, Newburn) and Mary Ann FORSTER (b. 19 Sept 1803, Longbenton; d. 3rd Qtr. 1884, Tynemouth District) are the parents of Jane ATKINSON that I am looking for. Since Jane's Marriage Certificate doesn't say much about her father other than that he was named John and was a pitman, I don't know if this John from Newburn was him. Can anyone help me or do you have any ideas about how to proceed from here?
