Hello

I wonder if anyone can help. I have got the Royal Marine service record for one of my ancestors.

He enlisted in 1924 and there seems to be a record of continuous service until the record notes                ”termination of second period of engagement” in April 1946 then “released” June 1946. At the top of the document it records “when re-engagement - 6 ? 1937”.

I am confused by the “re-engagement” term as his service appears to have been continuous - please can anyone enlighten me?

Many thanks
Mike

I have three DNA matches (GP, AP AND JA) and I am struggling to find the MRCA. I have used DNA Painter (please see attached photo) and all three match on my 2nd maternal chromosome. I have created a family tree for GP and AP and I believe that AP is a grand nephew of GP.

I have managed to add JA to my family tree and from this have found our MRCA which makes JA my 3rd cousin.

What I am struggling to do is to link them all up and add GP and AP to my family tree. My limited understanding of DNA suggests that because all three have overlapping matching DNA they should have a the same MRCA - what am I missing? Any thoughts on the way forward would be gratefully received!

Europe / Can anyone please clarify where this place is/was - Bialostock, Grodna
« on: Saturday 15 January 22 09:55 GMT (UK)  »
I wonder if any one can help me pin down where Bialostock in the province of Grodna is or was. I have a copy of a UK Naturalisation certificate from 1912 that lists the birth place as Bialostock in the province of Grodna. I can find a Bialystok Grodno but not Bialostock in the province of Grodna. I am not sure if they are one and the same - thoughts please!

Hello
I wonder if any one can help, I am trying to find a birth record for Jane Parfitt born to George and Anne Parfitt (nee Rapps). Jane was baptised on 25 Dec 1861 in the parish of Stoke St Michael otherwise Stoke Lane Somerset but I don't seem to be able to find a birth record. A search of FreeBMD only gives a Jane Parfitt born 2nd quarter 1862 - the corresponding entry on the GRO lists the mother's maiden name as Charlton. Help please!

I have a pdf copy of a birth certificate from 1884 which lists the place of birth as Wootton R.S.D. Please could some one clarify if this means the birth happened in what is now Cricklade and Wootton Bassett or some where else - thank you!

Anthony G Bunting born 1932 Dec Qtr. There are two entries on the GRO; one typed with district of Ashbourne and the other handwritten at bottom of page with district of Wandsworth (please see attached screen shot). Family had connections with both Derbyshire and Wandsworth.

Is one entry a mistake or did parents try to register his birth twice - once in Derbyshire and once in Wandsworth?
Thank you!
