Please can anyone find this family in 1901, I have them on the 1891 Census as follows:

Walter H                  5 Son.     Ystardyfodwg
Edgar                       3 Son.     Ystradyfodwg
Margaret J Morgan  20 Servant.General ? Servant  Lla???

4 Gordon Street Clydach Ystardyfodwg.

Edith M, married and was living in Tonapandy 1901
I believe both Thomas and Mary to be deceased but I can't find the other children.
I know Edgar was alive in 1913 because he was informant of Edith Death, Thomas J was still living in 1899 as he was witness to Edith's marriage.

Any help would be appreciated ...

Glamorganshire / DAVIES/EVANS Marriage....at 14?????
« on: Saturday 27 May 06 22:26 BST (UK)  »
I have Census for 1861..... Cadoxtan Neath
RG 9/4092.....Susannah and David Evans are already married at 23 and 21 years of age.

But checking the Indexes, the only Marriage at Neath between 1851 and 1861 (which is where both were born and lived in the previous and following Census years)......... is in 1854, 1st qtr, 11a 516

But they would have been 14 and 16 years old.....was that possible in those times or do you think I have missed something????

Can anybody help.

Regards Jay ???

Family History Beginners Board / Is this two surnames
« on: Thursday 25 May 06 03:32 BST (UK)  »
Sorry if this appears a bit stupid...

But Jones sounds like a surname to me, and I can't find a  birth with Jones included. Is it possible it was added because his mother re-married?

I can't find him in the 1871 census

In the 1881 Census as:
Thomas Jones Davies.RG 11/5302

In the 1891 Census as:
Thomas J Davies. RG 12/4424

Both in the printing trade, although the area had changed the age is correct and birthplace

Any ideas please?

Glamorganshire / No Coroners report, no Obituary...where to now
« on: Monday 22 May 06 21:00 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone make any suggestions as to where I go from here.

I am trying to trace my grandfather but death informant was the Coroner in Cardiff

So asked for a search:

Coroners reports for 1925 either destroyed or Sealed and Bound...Cardiff Library.

I then asked for a search of the Cardiff papers...Western Mail, South Wales Echo, and Cardiff Times.

Nothing in Obituaries or a mention of my grandfather drowning...even though an Inquest was carried out...verdict was Open.

I was hoping for information on the death certificate to lead me to other members of my family, and with a name of Evan D Evans in Cardiff I really need names confirmed.

Is there anywhere else can I search?

Glamorganshire / Daeth Certificate Cardiff. Informant Coroner
« on: Friday 19 May 06 12:48 BST (UK)  »
On receiving the Death Certificate for the only  confirmed lead to my family, the informant was the Coroner in Cardiff.

I am a complete newbie to this, and would appreciate any help/advice.

Where do I look for details of the Inquest, and would that give family names, details of his birth date/area or information to help me continue my search?

Information on the Death Certificate is:

Evan David Evans died 23rd April 1925 age 54.

Drowning...Open Verdict
Informant. Certificate received from Coronor for Cardiff
Inquest held 25th April, 1925.
30 Tymawr Road, Llandaff North, Cardiff....Quarry Manager.

I don't live in Wales to check the Newspapers.

I hope I have put this in the right section as this is my first post....Jay
