Staffordshire / Prison/Death records
« on: Wednesday 04 April 12 15:55 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

If someone died in Prison around 1901 would their death still be entered in BMD records?

I have found a relative who was an inmate in Staffordshire Prison in 1901 for fraud deception & theft. She had already served time doing hard labour but was deemed to be so ill she couldn't stand further trial, but the records do not state what then happened to her. I obtained this information from the original records at Stafford records office. I'm guessing she possible died shortly afterwards but cannot find any record of her death. She doesn't appear in 1911 census it like she just disappears.

Can someone tell me if a Prisoner in 1901 died in Prison would their death still be in the BMD registers?

I found a relative in 1901 in Staffordshire Prison and viewed their records at the records office. They stated she wasn't fit for trial, it doesn't however tell me what then happened to her. I can find no death record for her and she doesn't appear in the 1911 Census so presumably had died.

Any help appreciated.

Susanna Thompson abt 1859-1861 ( varies on Census returns) lived in Oldbury West Bromwich.

Please could someone tell me how I can search for a death that has taken place in the last two years. Unfortunately I only have a name, date of birth & possible area,  the genealogy site I belong to only searches up to 2005!

Hi

Looking for some advice as to why I cant find a marriage record? Sometime between 1881-1891 Sarah Tasker married George Hopkins, they lived in the Bristol area. I have Sarah's maiden name from one of her daughters birth certificates but cannot find a marriage. Any clues as to why?

Gloucestershire / Burial Place

Hi there,

Can anyone tell me if there's an easy way of locating a grave in an area? I'm looking for my Great Grandmothers grave and keep coming up against a brick wall. Ive tried the Crematoriums, the reference library but to no avail. There's a slim chance she maybe buried at Arnos Vale but they charge such a lot for a search.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Joe   :)

Ireland / Birth Certificates
« on: Monday 10 August 09 15:11 BST (UK)  »
Please can anyone tell me how I can trace my Irish family?

I have looked on a couple of the really big family history sites but nothing. I tried to apply for a copy of an Irish birth certificate but was advised that records preceeding 1860 had been destroyed. Any ideas anyone?
