Suffolk / Re: Just got back from Suffolk ...

If your post is not appropriate then we might as well all pack up and finish.
It is a very emotional feeling walking where your forefathers trod. Just to walk into a church where your X times Grandparents were baptised or married gives you a feeling that can't be put into words ( or at least not by me ). I too have touched many a font and somehow when I do I never feel alone.
If only we could hire a time machine for the day.

Essex Lookup Requests / Re: Ray Family - Writtle

Hi Richard

I see the name Livermore on your family list. If this is from Writtle then an R.Livermore was a witness at many marriages in the mid 1800's.
Also you might like to try the Writtle Parish Archive which has copies of all the Parish Records. You need to contact Wendy Hibbett via the Writtle Village website.

Thank you Sue. If thats the spelling in the Parish Record then I can see how its been overlooked.
All I need now are his parents & siblings.

Essex / Thomas Brewster , Writtle
« on: Sunday 06 April 08 17:28 BST (UK)  »
My 4x Great Grandfather was Thomas Brewster who was born in Writtle in 1774. I am looking for his parents and siblings. There is a great brewster presence in Writtle but as yet I can't tie them in. Would appreciate any thoughts.
Also the IGI has his marriage as 12th December 1797 to Mary Murdock but there is no mention of this in the Parish Record. Again any help greatfuly received.

I visited All Saints yesterday and quite a large section of the older graves have been cleaned up and are very clear to read.
However I do recomend that anyone with a connection to Writtle contacts Wendy Hibbitt.
Also I must say that Writtle is a very pretty place and well worth a visit even if you have no connection.

Not sure of house number but Alan Springett is or was a builder and may be in yellow pages. Son Mitchell has been a local football star for many years.
