Census and Resource Discussion / Unusual occupation
« on: Thursday 29 May 08 17:52 BST (UK)  »
I think this must be a Northern job, only seen it twice - does it have another meaning outside the mining industry?

Treacle Bender.

The chap was a banksman in previous census and a coal whipper in the following one.

The Common Room / GRO Marriage Index
« on: Wednesday 23 January 08 18:32 GMT (UK)  »
Ever seen each individual getting married having their own page number ?

Just found a couple with page #s differing by 2 - 2494 and 2492 female and male respectively.

Names are correct, and cross-reference correctly - and typewritten Index page clear .... and District, year and Q match known facts

should I mention when ordering ?

Cornwall Lookup Requests / Boscastle PRs
« on: Monday 14 January 08 10:35 GMT (UK)  »
I seem to recall that Boscastle is split over 2 parishes - Minster and another name I forget ...

On the IGI I cant see records past 1812, nor any references in the Resources Forum.

Can anyone please advise if there are transcriptions, or is this a visit / email to County Archives ?

Much appreciated.

 :)
