Australia Lookups completed / Emmigration to South Australia
« on: Friday 16 June 06 02:36 BST (UK)  »
I am having difficulty determining which Thomas Tregoning is my ancestor and would like somebody to look up when any Thomas Tregoning's arrived in South Australia OR Victoria and who they travelled with.  I believe he arrived in Australia in the late 1850s.

If you have other information about where in Cornwall they came from, that would be most helpful too.

Thanks.

Hi Jenn
Thank you for this information.  If you are able to provide any further information on the children of William and Alexander, it would be very useful and will help me to confirm that this is the right William.  Also, do you have any information on shipping arrivals into South Australia that might link to William and Alexander?

Could you please help me by telling me where I find the look up board for the particular country that I am looking for?
Thanks

I am a new user and cannot work out how I can ask somebody to look something up other than to send a personal message.

Can somebody please instruct me on how I post a message which will be added to the other requests for lookups to this user.

Thanks

Is anybody able to confirm the arrival of William Savage into South Australia in the late 1850s or early 1860s.  He could have been accompanied by his brother Alexander.

Cornwall Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Looking for Tregoning's from Cornwall

Hi Kris
Thanks for your message.  Yes, I do have a copy of the marriage certificate and yes, his father is listed as John.  I believe he died in 1891, and so his death certificate would probably not list his place of birth.  Information which has been passed to me, but never verified, is that Thomas Tregoning arrived in South Australia from Cornwall on the "Marion" on 19 Jan 1857 (aged 20), however, if this is correct, then the Thomas Tregoning we are looking at would not be correct as he still appeared on the 1861 census.  I don't know that you can help me any further, but if you can think of any way of clarifying the information (albeit rather all over the place) I'd appreciate hearing from you.
Regards

Cornwall Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Elizabeth Isaac

Hi again
Yes, I do have the marriage certificate and it lists her father as James Isaac - the same as on the information you have provided.  It also has Emily Jane Isaac as the witness to the marriage - so I am fairly sure that the Elizabeth I have found (the one you found) is the right one - but would love to be able to find something to confirm it absolutely - but perhaps I am hoping for something that might not be possible.

Hi Tanja
Thank you for this information.  I actually have been able to establish that an Elizabeth Isaac travelled with her sisters, and I presume the family you have located is the same family.  I am just having trouble determining whether she is the Elizabeth Isaac who was my descendent.
Thanks for your help anyway.

Ireland / Searching for Savages
« on: Wednesday 14 June 06 12:15 BST (UK)  »
William Savage apparently emigrated to Australia with his brother Alexander in around the late 1850s/early 1960s - and that is all I know.  Supposedly they came from Ireland, and were in their mid to late teens when they travelled to South Australia.  William married Anne Maria Ward in 1867 in Magill, South Australia.  Any information on William Savage would be greatly appreciated.
